They're not pedos. Sorry.

Suffering from narcissistic/histrionic personality disorder, yes. But not pedos.

That's a very good catch.

Whatever, far has features for trolls like that.

Case in point. Amazing how I'm right again. Not that you'll see this, I'm sure you've put me on Ignore, which is what people like you do to people who have shredded their fragile egos.

Here's where I duck down to your level for just a moment:

You started it!

Ok, that moment's over.

Your posting style. It bears a remarkable resemblance(lack of coherency, very poor memory, and irrational leaps in "logic") to a fellow from creationist threads, the fellow's fark handle is initialized with IDW.

You aren't related to him by chance?

Nope. Your perceptual abilities are once again inaccurate.

GAT_00: Grand_Moff_Joseph: Because People in power are Stupid: Please stop with the pony pics. We are all adults here.

I know, right?  I mean, why the heck would anyone post a pony pic in this thread?  TFA may be talking about ponies, but that's obviously no excuse to post a pony in this thread.

I've always thought the whole Bronie thing was incredibly creepy.  It's not like a kids show you grew up with.

So liking any animated show you didn't grow up with makes an adult "creepy"? I wasn't aware that sequential drawings magically became pornography at the age of 18.

HaveBeerWillTravel: I don't mind the ponies, I guess, but... seriously, this is the toy-based franchise from my childhood we brought back? What's a man gotta do to get some Masters of the Universe?

Or Transformers? Or GI Joe?!

/What do you mean, "go watch the movies?" There were no movies.
//THERE WERE NO MOVIES!!!

They tried that a few years ago; It was basically a re-imagining of He-man as the story of a world populated only by body-building baton majors and color-guards. It did not garner a wide audience.

This stuff is remarkably creepy. It's not an "all ages" show, it's for little girls and, yes, I judge you for obsessing over it. I'm all for geekdom, but at a certain point, it has to be said: if you're a man, be a man. You people are about a step away from leering at children on a swing set.

It's creepy because it's meant for little girls and their parents, not 20 somethings living in Mom's basement.

The moment that you say that there is room for adults (as in parents) to find some enjoyment in the show, you admit that there is something for everybody in the show.

The adults don't get the references because they are parents, they get them because they have certain age.

If the argument was about OBSESSING about the show, then I would agree that it's not healthy, but no more or no less than being obsessed with any other aspect of popular culture (or anything really).

If you found creepy the liking in Pixar movies or other kids shows that are NOT specifically for girls (Phineas and Ferb, for example), I wouldn't agree, but at least there would be a consequent line of thought.

However, finding the mere LIKING and ENJOYMENT of the show creepy because it has certain demographic is a dumb argument.

No. Adults enjoy it because their children enjoy it. Not because of some sick ideas of using the imagery to lure 7 year olds into their basement  or to have something to discuss with 7 year olds.

Seems to be that this is a pointless question giving that you are not interested in have a rational argument about it, but have you ever considered the possibility that the show has merits on it's own that makes them interesting to anybody, like good writing, good animation and design and interesting characters?

Or ANY adult that likes ANY kid's show is suddenly a pedophile?

Do you deem ALL people of certain age that likes Last Airbender or Ben 10 or Adventure Time as pedophiles too?

Do you deem ALL people that like Dexter as potential serial killers?

I could understand arguments like that the show "it's silly", "it's childish", "it's immature" and even "it's girly"... but the minute that you label an ENTIRE fanbase of being potential criminals because they like something that doesn't adjust to your particular worldview, you are both irresponsible and stupid.

As I said, I could stretch things out the same way the "PEDOPHILES!!!" crew to do and state that anybody who hates the show is secretly a misogynistic woman-beater that hates the mere idea of a work of fiction not been centered around males...

/Arguing on Internet is an fun exercise of futility...

I'm assuming the marzipan was used to create the humongous Pinkamena Diane Pie on that cake.

Eeyup. Since we're still open here, I'm down for one more round of sugar overdose!

Marzipan is honey and/or sugar and ground almonds, and Fondant is sugar and a little gelatin (and glycerine) to keep it flexible. Both of these confections constitute the sculpting clays of the goofy cake decoration world. Marzipan holds its shape a little better, and fondant is easier to roll flat.

It's kinda hard to tell the two apart on camera, but it's usually "3D objects" vs sheets of single color. Upthread, the almost-3D Pinkie Pie was made of marzipan, and those sheets of decorative sugary wrapping that you see enveloping cakes, like this Fluttershy Fondant Cake, are fondant.

They're both easy to make, though. You can make 'em from scratch, but for fondant, if you look at the ingredients on a bag of marshmallows, you'll see they're basically made of sugar and gelatin, which is close enough to "sugar, gelatin, and food-grade glycerine," and much cheaper. Just nuke some marshmallows in the microwave and add a bucket of powdered sugar, like this. If you enjoyed making things out of clay or plasticine when you were a kid, you'll get the idea for what comes next pretty quickly, whatever your fandom.

i39.tinypic.com

Put all that together and you end up with something like this tutorial on how to decorate a fondant cake, with associated sub-recipes.

And here's something just completely silly, because this is, after all, still a pony thread.
