what the fark

2001-11-24 04:31:00 PM
The worst part is that some idiot will probably bid on them.

2001-11-24 04:32:34 PM
I want them because I lost the other 15 I received in the mail yesterday. They make good frisbees or weapons.

2001-11-24 04:37:13 PM
WTF!!!!!

Go to Walmart or something.. and grab a crate of those AOHELL cd's and get on with it...

2001-11-24 04:37:30 PM
If you phrase it right you could probably get a lot of money for those.

2001-11-24 04:38:34 PM
Well, well, well, bid on 'Fark for a day' or free AOL CD's.
Oh the inhumanity....the utter internal conflict... what to do...what to do???

For Sale: Two AOL CDs that some moron is selling.

No, some genius is selling, because like the "X-Box" someone will buy it.

2001-11-24 04:43:20 PM
Keep bidding on the lint, I get a commission.

2001-11-24 04:45:21 PM
if they don't sell, he's a moron.
if they do sell, he's genius.

i applaud the move. really. after seeing that retarded geekf.ucker buy an xbox 'box' for 300 bucks, i'm ready to start selling my used toilet paper.

c-bass, they also make great beer coasters.

2001-11-24 04:45:34 PM
I hope someone leave some interesting comments to his name... hehe...

2001-11-24 04:50:06 PM
I was clearing out some old software boxes at work about a month ago... found an AOL 1.x 3.5" disk still in the plastic baggy. Found out later that one just like it went for $30 on eBay! Yes, people actually collect those things.

2001-11-24 04:51:27 PM
The moron probably thinks, Because they are not sending those particular CD's out in the snail mail anymore, That they are now collectors items. What is worse is that others out there probably are thinking along the same terms. Pitty The Fools...

2001-11-24 04:51:53 PM
I have one from when they shipped it with Wizard magazine: wonder how much that would be worth.

Anyway, this guy proves people will buy anything on ebay.

2001-11-24 05:15:20 PM
You should look at all the other crap this guy sold. I mean, he got $8 for pens with drug companies' names on them. And he sold old board games with missing pieces for $2. This guy is probably like everyone's weird old uncle that has stacks of news papers on the back porch.

2001-11-24 05:18:14 PM
I liked the good old days when AOL sent out the floppy disks and you could just erase them and use them for your own stuff. All the dollars I saved...at least 3 or 4

2001-11-24 05:19:06 PM
I don't get it???? I use AOL and love it. It so easy to use no wonder it is number 1. It only cost me about 30 dollars a month. 1000 hours should be worth at least $75. I am going to wait to the last day before I bid.

2001-11-24 05:19:50 PM
If you believe that I have some property to sell you.

2001-11-24 05:25:06 PM
2000 hours?!!!That's krazzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

2001-11-24 05:34:01 PM
What the moron who posted this doesn't realize is that there are always AOL cd's for sale on eBay. Other morons collect them or something.

2001-11-24 05:37:49 PM
hehe, guess he didn't read the "for a month" underneath it. He is wasting his buyer's "valuable" hours.

I liked the floppies better, but I have several burned CDs in their DVD cases that they are now sending.

2001-11-24 06:02:06 PM
The only reason to bid on these would be for the cases. Those Amray DVD cases are always kinda handy.

2001-11-24 06:03:53 PM
"other morons collect them or something."

I guess it's like some sort of moron-currency or something.

2001-11-24 06:06:27 PM
i remember back in the day, when you'd get the floppies that had 5 free hours on it, and everyone was amazed. it took them about 1 hour to realize they'd never use the other 4.

2001-11-24 06:41:18 PM
The problem with this is, you get these cds in the mail .....FOR FREE!

2001-11-24 06:50:46 PM
Yeah, I wish they still sent floppies around; you could actually use those. Sometimes I sharpen the edges of a bunch of AOL cds and wing 'em at stuff for fun. Once I threw one at a telephone pole from my bike while going about 100 miles per hour and it stuck halfway into the thing. I've noticed the ones with the brightly colored labels are a lot more shatter-resistant than the "platinum" ones.

2001-11-24 06:51:48 PM
He should just take the stickers off the case, remove the paper inserts, and sell the empty DVD cases. He'd probably get more money for them then.

2001-11-24 06:58:28 PM
Oh look, he's asking $3.00 for "shipping". I used to work for the Post Office, so I KNOW what shipping costs for things. Hell, everyone on Ebay always asks for about 2 to 10 times the real shipping costs. Guess they think they're being real clever or something. Stupid pricks.

2001-11-24 07:00:35 PM
C-Bass
I want them because I lost the other 15 I received in the mail yesterday. They make good frisbees or weapons.

LOL... in residence at my university, we used to sit and drink beer in a friend's room who lived right beside the large, open staircase. When neighbors finished classes and came home, you could hear them walking up the stairs. We'd take aim and fling the CDs at the staircase when we heard people walking up the stairs. That, and flick beer bottle caps. Scared the crap out of them. Damn, those things were dangerous. But they fly very, very well.

2001-11-24 07:07:17 PM
Damn!! I spent all my money on lint!! Crap.

2001-11-24 07:12:11 PM
All that wasted money, in the trash! If I would have kept all those AOL cds, my profit (if you can call it that) would be around 5,000 bucks.

2001-11-24 07:31:37 PM
Look at his other items for sale. They are mostly beer mugs, shotglasses, and "like new" ladies trousers. Interesting.

2001-11-24 07:40:24 PM
Wow, 2,324 people have visited his auction and not one bid. I have just regained my faith in humanity.

2001-11-24 07:40:46 PM
Oh no! Don't you get it? This is a secret code for the terrorist cells in hiding.

2001-11-24 08:07:29 PM
What's amazing is that this guy has already sold 229 other items. Were they 50-60 copies of AOL v2-5 free trials?

2001-11-24 08:13:53 PM
Actually there is a big market for AOL cd's, they are looked on now as part of Americana, much like Coca Cola merchandise. Goes to show there is something for everyone. This guy isn't the moron, it is the one's who bid who makes this guy a genius. Think about it.

2001-11-24 08:43:50 PM
I know there are people that collect these things (I don't know any, mind you) - I was under the impression that it was more of a 'spare time' trade 'spare discs' kind of thing - i.e. there wasn't really money trading hands. I'd suspect that maybe some really old 'cool' ones might have a better chance of being worth money - but these don't look very old or especially cool.

2001-11-24 08:45:18 PM
I think you guys are missing the fact that no one has bid yet, so all this talk about this proving idiocy and such really has no basis. Now if someone actually bids, that might be a different story.

2001-11-24 08:49:18 PM
It ain't the same thing but last year I sold an AOL 1.0 (Mac version c.1989) diskette and signup kit for $107 on eBay.

2001-11-24 08:54:39 PM
I should bid on this just for kicks, house sitting is a drag so I have to make some fun somehow..lol

2001-11-24 09:07:48 PM
Well l@@k at that, 2000 hours for only $1.99...

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1035042355 - 7 ASSORTED PLASTIC DINOSAUR FIGURES L@@K

This guy has probably lost more from the listing fee than he has actually made from auctions.

2001-11-24 10:23:52 PM
He's probably the same one that sells the windows 9x boot disks on ebay. Hmmmmmm.......buy one for 3.00$ and wait a week to get it or go to ctrl panel>add remove programs>boot disk and make one in 2 seconds....hard choice

2001-11-24 10:33:52 PM

What is this 'AOL'?

2001-11-24 11:08:44 PM
I use AOL because I'm not a geek and all I need is a stupid internet browser and an email address.

And it's free for me. I'm cool like that.

2001-11-24 11:16:32 PM
wow, i think i have a lock on the bid. im, im ,im a freakin loser.

2001-11-24 11:18:53 PM
