weasil: HighZoolander:

Have you seen the one where it was two women who had been collecting their own feces and urine for 10+ years?

That I have not, so there's hope (?)

The plumbing had been shut off at some point, I don't know when. They used buckets in the back yard, many of which we found under piles of leaves and such.

My aunt stopped cleaning when my grandmother died in 1986. She died in 2008. Oddly, I never saw a roach. Rats, feral cats, termites, slugs, but no roaches.

I've seen several episodes as well where the house was condemned, and basically couldn't be cleaned to habitable standards. So, sadly, if it wasn't that bad for you, and you could save the house at all, I guess that's good?

I'm sure it wasn't fun though, and I don't envy you that cleaning job.

weasil: I'm sorry if I've said this before... It's become a reflexive habit whenever I hear about hoarders...

We honestly thought we'd found a monkey skeleton under the bed while cleaning out my aunt's house (which took a year of weekends) but it was just another dead cat.

sigh...

/I am so sorry
//have yet to see an episode of Hoarders that compares to what we had.

Oh that's so awful. I'm sorry, but it made me laugh.

I have helped clean out a hoarder's house myself, so I get it. But I can just picture you finding what you thought was a monkey skeleton.

I spent a solid day shoveling old clothes and rat poo out of one closet. Also found a dead dog elsewhere in the house. We removed a clock off the kitchen wall and it left a white circle where the cockroaches HADN'T pooped on the wall.

I could go on.....and on.....

CokeBear: chumboobler: I don`t think this lady meant any harm. She should clearly not be responsible for the lives of any children but she is clearly crazy. Hoarders are crazy. They are. I don`t think a hoarder should not be held responsible for their actions, I think they should. The judge can use his latitude as a judge and give her a suspended sentence and loss of custody of her kids. Mental illness is not a crime. Sometimes things mentally ill people do are crimes. If there is evidence of prior mental illness before the crime and not just `My client committed a crime your honor, and now these well paid shrinks say he is insane`, it should be taken into account.

Here is a little known fact.... Most folks that commit crimes are mentally ill. Not crazy. Not, I don`t know right from wrong.... Just ill and off balance. If we fix that.... We fix prison overpopulation, lots of violent crimes, many robberies, lots of shoplifting, many cases of child abuse and the list goes on...

Why would you want to fix prison overpopulation? Don't you know how much money there is in keeping people locked up? Private prisons are a very profitable and rapidly growing sector of the economy, and employ thousands as prison guards. Why do you hate job creators?

Well Duh..... Job Creators that COST MONEY to tax payers is not a good thing. I know....... I know...... My sarcasm meter is working correctly and I get it. Here is some math for those that don`t......

Prisoner cost :65K including guard costs, food, heat, power, training and love from the gov.

For every guy in jail you need 20 people just to pay their costs....

20

People to pay to keep a pot smoker in jail...

I am not a pot smoker.

I understand science though. I get math. It is easy and literal in this respect. Stop putting non violent and non theft offenders in jail.

Rapists and pedo`s can be executed as far as I am concerned. I have read a number of interviews with these guys and it seems like it is doing them a favor. They know it is wrong, we know it is wrong, yet they are compelled to do it anyway. They all seem to say that they have no hope of stopping so please, for all of us, kill them.
