Because radon is dangerous, and causes health problems. Problems with murder or suicide are entirely in the imagination of the buyer.

My advice to home buyers:

Remove the wall plates and look for splices. That's your curse. That's your fire.

Your concern should not be who died there, but what amateur electrician/plumber/carpenter LIVED there.

... and god help you if you are in the shower and somebody runs cold water ANYWHERE in the house.

Beat this: My shower control is installed so that it runs some hot and some cold water, even turned all the way to "hot." You have to leave the sink running cold to get the shower up to a tolerable temperature.

There's also a random part of what probably should be basement space that you can't access. Don't particularly care about that one. (Freaks out my friends, though!)  I agree with the Weeners - if people don't know someone died there it won't hurt them, and the idea won't be there to trigger their imaginations, so they can just enjoy the place!

One of those one knob shower faucet deals? it's probably one with a built in thermostat and it's either defective, or set wrong. shouldn't be too hard to replace, if, y'know, they bothered to install shut offs at the tub. like they did not do at my townhouse.

I would also check out mystery basement.. .many a horror movie has started that way

The apartment I left last month had a guy kill himself outside my window in 2007. My friends said I should move, but hey, it's not like he's coming back.
