Jerry Jones should take notes.

This is true on a lot of levels I guess.  It slowly dawned on me a couple months into the season that Snyder had been virtually invisible to common observer.

Looking at the picture in TFA, I noticed that Snyder creases his jeans (not a euphemism). That's farked up, man.

One article will not erase years of idiocy, mismanagement, and downright hostility towards the fanbase. Wining a title, however, would go a long way.

True enough. But Jerry Jones should still take notes.

What remains to be seen is if he will remain that way if the Skins win.

The reason that line exists is because Snyder has given over the reigns to Shanahan and Allen. All and owner should do is sign the checks and provide a well maintained practice facility. Leave the rest to guys who understand football.

2013-01-04 01:59:43 PM
From a -14 to a +13 in turnover differential. Maybe it's overly simplistic, but there's your best indicator of the turnaround. I truly doubt Snyder was telling them to fumble or throw interceptions.

The big bonus? RGIII and Morris are incredibly marketable and will sell shirts and other merchanidise for years to come.
I'm no 'Skins fan, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not seeing Snyder's hands off approach as "THE" solution here. It's just an incidental benefit amongst a happy season of benefits.

It'd be nice if he did something about the shiatshow that is the turf on the field. It was absolutely horrible last Sunday.

RGIII is a great player and a genuine stand-up mofo, but how about winning a few rounds in the playoffs before declaring this the Redskin Century.

And let's see Snyder keep his hands off when a few things go wrong, as they always do.

/still, Jerrah, take notes dammit!

The secret to their turnaround is that they had a cupcake schedule in the second half of the season. They barely qualified for the playoffs and now that they aren't playing the NFL version of the little sisters of the poor and have to play a good team they will revert back into being the Redskins of this century once again.

Yeah I'd like to see them move to field turf or that modular stuff that is real grass. That way they can clean things up week to week or at least after a lot of percipitation. It's not all that different from any other grass field but the logo has too many dark colors in it not to look like complete garbage after the smallest amount of play. By week 17 it looks close to that every year, this year was just made worse by the snow/rain the past few weeks.

I wasn't aware that anyone would call 5 division games and 1 non-divison playoff team "cupcake" especially considering the Giants were a Lions' field goal away from a wildcard and the Cowboys game determined the division champion.

I'll give you the Browns, but even a crappy team in a division (Eagles) still tend to manage a win against someone else in the division. Just a product of having 2 chances per season.

I think most analysts would say that Snyder stepping back and letting Shanahan and Allen find talent, including a 6th round RB, that can play avoid costly turnovers (not mistakes as this was the most penalized team in the league) and a kicker that doesn't consistently suck did far more for winning the division than did a "cupcake" schedule.

Those other teams had cupcake schedules too!

But in all seriousness, they were 2-2 against teams that made the playoffs.  Middle of the road, I think that sums up their season so far.

Funny, when you stop trading away your best prospects for stars just past their peek you start building a dynasty.

Mainly because that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Everyone knows that the Yankees started getting awesome because they hired George Costanza as assistant to the traveling secretary.

I'm only worried because sh*tty fields tend to neutralize fast defenses and that's our main advantage. And I really hate that teams like the Redskins and USUALLY the Bears continually get to make their fields of slop in order to gain an advantage.

Every season the Bears players complain about that field. Urlacher, Cutler and Gould have done it this season.

Well, their main advantage is that they know the extent of its sh*ttiness before getting on it. I suppose the main advantage for those that care is that they don't have to pay for FieldTurf.

This might be crazy here, but it could just be that when a team is winning, people (who root for the team) complain about the team less.

Cowboys went 5-3 in the last half of the season. You still have to take care of your division. They beat the AFC North champions. 7-game win streaks are still hard to come by. They only lost one game this year by more than one score. But I guess you still have ad hominem attacks instead of facts, so that's nice.

No I didnt really hear squat about him then really. Mostly it was they would talk about giving RG3 time to develop. And you NEVER heard a peep about Snyder on his sports station. If you did he was called Mr. Snyder.

The shocking thing about that was that Snyder kept quiet during that time.  Especially after Shanahan's "evaluate people" comment I expected Snyder to at least start stirring something up.  Maybe the press didn't go after him to comment.  Maybe he shut his door to the press and told them to talk to Allen.  Who knows.  I think they might be putting some pretty strong drugs in his soup.  He's way to mellow.

I am very excited for the Skins/Hawks game.

Both Teams have great rookie QB's
Seattle has epic D
Washington has a great O line.

Gonna give the edge though to the Seahawks. I think Offensivly they have too many weapons. RG3 is awesome, and I think he has had a great year, but I think the Seahawks have too much going on elsewhere.

Seahawks could win the whole thing.

Yanks_RSJ: Well, for now. Just wait until he starts tinkering.

And they're very light on draft picks due to the trade for Griffin.

As of today, the Redskins have 7 picks in the 2013 draft (no 1st round pick, but 2 in the 5th) and 6 in the 2014 draft (no 1st round again). That doesn't strike me as "very light", considering there are only 7 rounds in the draft now.

In the Joe Gibbs/Bobby Bethard era, the Redskins routinely traded away 1st round picks, with the notable exceptions of Darrell Green and Art Monk. I seem to recall they did ok.

Snyder is a marketing guy. He's already trying to market RG3 as the Michael Jordan of football - the best player of ALL TIME!

Washington hasnt beaten a top 15 defense all year, Seattle is easily in the top 5 if not 1 or 2. I see RG3 doing his thing, but overall Wilson is going to shred the skins secondary and Lynch will at least get 150 yards

The key is having good talent evaluators. Take away the Seahawks 1st round picks from the last 2 drafts and you still have Wagner, Turbin, Wilson, Lane, Sweezy, Sherman, Wright, Maxwell, Malcolm Smith and Scruggs - all either start or have played significant snaps this season on an 11-5 team. The 1st round isn't the end-all be-all for a draft...if your team doesn't suck at drafting.
