My dreams about The Price is Right are more about getting "off" than "on"

Is it just me or does the girl on the far right look like she could crack walnuts with her jaw?

That or cut glass with her chin.

I don't have access to YouTube at work, but I am assuming this is the guy who bid 420 on everything? I believe that was once on Fark.

Pfighting Polish: Sorry, Subby, but that would involve Doc Brown's DeLorean, Holly Hallstrom and some alone time together, so I'm thinking the odds are pretty slim.

my girlfriend came trickling off the stage with those handbags, two camcorders, an iPad, an acrylic box full of $2,444 in cash, and a dishwasher that's perfect for New York City rental apartments (she passed on the car)

What was the game? Temptation?

I really do have dreams of getting on The Price is Right, it's high up on that bucket list of mine. Unfortunately living in Connecticut means I'm not going to get a whole lot of opportunities. I figure the next time I go out to Las Vegas I'll take a stab at it, but I assume they're taping schedule probably runs from late August through early May like most other shows that go on a summer hiatus, so I'd have to book a trip sometime in the Fall to do it. I highly doubt the show is going anywhere, so I'm sure I have plenty of time, but if say tomorrow they suddenly announced that TPIR is being cancelled, I'd probably book the first flight out to LA tomorrow just so I wouldn't regret not doing it.

Getting a kick as my brother in law won both showcases when he was on.

This was a well written and amusing story. A little long though. Especially since, in the end, he didn't make it on. His girlie did.

It would have been a much more amusing article if he had written it from his girlie's point of view.

I recently saw a commercial for TLC at my grandmother's, and it consisted of this Honey Boo Boo thing riding a wrecking ball into each shot and yelling something. That was the first time I had ever seen Honey Boo Boo on tv, and completely justifying why I don't have cable, even though I can get it for free. The most annoying commercial I had ever seen. Seriously? Some fat little troll riding a wrecking ball into every shot is SUPPOSED to get me to watch that channel?

CSB: For a long time, one of my goals was to go on TPIR (when Bob Barker was hosting), get to Contestant's Row, win a prize and get to play the Cliffhanger game for a 14 piece dinette set or some such. When it came time to guess the price of the first item, like some $20 blender, I'd look at Bob (we'd be friends by this point, so I could call him Bob) and say, with all the seriousness I could muster, "837 dollars." Bob would ask me if I really meant that, and I would say, "You heard me, Bob. Make him climb." Then the ya-de-yoo-de-ya music would start, followed by the Wilhelm scream and the sad trombone, and I would dance a jig the whole time.

It's not like I was giving up a chance at a car or anything. Cliffhanger's main prize always sucked.

No, actually, they tape pretty much all year round, unless it's a year the FIFA World Cup is being played for, in which case Drew Carey takes 6 weeks off. It's a 3 day week, with like two shows taped per day.

Why do they tape 6 shows a week?  I assume they only air 5.

One of the 6 shows is and "After Dark/Adults Only" episode which is pay-per-view.

It's about taping the required number of episodes for the season, I'd guess. The episodes don't exactly air in the order shows were taped. It's not like five shows taped in a week will be aired on five consecutive days most of the time. There's usually no need for continuity.

Now, for theme weeks or Christmas week or something like that, yeah, the shows are aired in order. Other than that...

Hell, the big season premier week is usually taped around two months into the tapings for a new season.

Hole In One (or Two) is played with the models for those episodes.

Everything that was said in the article was true. If it is on your bucket list it is really easy to get on! Do it now before life and responsibilities hold you back.

GBmanNC: I have a recurring nightmare where I make it to contestants row but don't make it on to the stage. It's strangely devastating every time. I'm not sure what it means but I'm pretty sure I need a therapist.

I had a recurring nightmare all through junior high/high school/university that I died and found out things are a little different. If you're too good a person to go to hell but not good enough to go to heaven they make you play Plinko to see where you go (with one chip). Every farking time it'd bounce off the very last peg and land on hell. Shame too, heaven was full of naked Price is Right girls with wings. :( I still have that damn dream sometimes.

I remember being in college and my college roommate was in the dorm "pit" where the TV lounge was located. He was up front, a 6'4" thin pasty white guy. TPIR comes on per usual and they call down some fat black lady with huge bazongas. Of course in character the gal comes bundling down the aisle, all wild and excited, her enormous breasts flailing with her arms flapping. My roommate quips, "ooh wee I'se gonna win me some prizes!!" in a ghetto black lady voice. Well, unbeknownst to him, sitting in the back row of the pit was our football team's starting running back, Jeff. Jeff is normally a very reserved, quiet guy who does not get into trouble. My roommate turns around and sees Jeff and immediately freaks out and apologizes all over himself for the racial overtones of his outburst. Jeff didn't kill him at that time. I think he did get my roommate back later though.
