He claims the Play store now supports Paypal. Unless something has recently changed and Google hasn't updated their help, you can't use Paypal to pay for anything on the Play store, only credit cards.

If you come by my house, you'd find four of the latest Apple TVs, two iMacs, the latest MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, more than five AirPort Express stations and Apple's Time Capsule. You could touch every single iPhone, from the first up to the iPhone 5, iPads ranging from first generation to fourth and we recently added two iPad minis.

My iTunes Library comprises well over 8,000 songs - all purchased via the iTunes Store. No matter whom you would ask, everybody will confirm that I'm what some folks call an Apple fanboy.

This guy is easily, what $25,000 in with Apple? $30,000?

Let me guess.... Apple doesn't let the user "customize" the software enough to create an interface and workflow that makes no sense to anyone but that user and would be completely ugly and unusable to anyone else. Gee that's a shame.

My family has two ipads and my wife got an iphone4s. I needed a new phone recently and was just a flip-phone user. I decided to try something different. I got the HTC Droid DNA. I used both the iphone and the DNA. at 1920x1080, the screen just blows away the apple. It's got a fast cpu and I haven't found anything it can't do.
I really like being able to stream to it from my PC. The only thing that sucks is that it can't be expanded. It comes with a measly 16GB. At least an iphone can get 64GB. I think if the DNA would have a microsd card, it would be perfect

This one was a pretty well enumerated list of nice features that Android has that iOS doesn't. If those features aren't interesting to you, then that's fine. If they are, then try them out and see what you think

The 4s was released in October of 2011. The HTC DNA was released in November of 2012. So congratulations on owning 2012 tech that "blows away" 2011 tech.

The only thing I miss is iMessages. I'm not kidding. Letting go of iMessages was difficult, as many of my friends are on iPhones and used to text me via iMessage.

That is indeed, a damn shame. If only there was some way on a non-apple phone for somebody to get in touch with you....

I had an iPhone, an iMac, an iPad and an Apple TV at one point. Then the Nexus7 came out and I picked one up just for fun, since my first gen iPad was a little long in the tooth. I liked Android so much that I gave my dad my iPad, my mom my iPhone and picked up a Galaxy S3. I like all the extra stuff I can do with the file system in Android and on my phone I dont have to have every god damn app on the screen somewhere. I really think my favorite Android feature is the alphabetic app drawer.

I eventually found I wasnt using the Nexus 7 much. The standby battery was crap and would be dead every time I wanted to use it since Android does a crap job managing concurrent apps. The 16:9 screen was also less than ideal for web browsing.

I picked up an iPad mini yesterday to try it out and found that despite the lower resolution, the screen is much nicer and that little bit of extra screen size makes a huge difference for web browsing. Its also nice to have all my old iPad apps back, since finding good quality tablet apps on android is a chore.

In conclusion, I love my GS3 and will get a GS4 or 5 whenever the opportunity arises. I also love my iPad mini.

I am not into being a fanboy of any particular technology. I am a geek however. I own many iterations of various consoles and have owned Samsung, HTC and Apple phones over the years. Up until recently (the last year or so), Apple was the easiest and most functional phone on the market. For a while now I have been thinking of a switch to Samsung and I confirmed that feeling after getting my daughter a cell phone for Christmas.

I got her a Samsung Ace 2. It is a great device that costs a fraction of my iPhone and with a 20 dollar 32GB Micro SD card it had more memory than my iPhone. It has almost all the same apps as my phone and some that I can't get. It is fast and sleek and has a better battery life than mine. It does not have the restrictions that iTunes forces on those of us that do not "jailbreak" our phones. It is intuitive and awesome.

Short Version : Samsung has, in my opinion, taken the lead in the mobile market. Each update I get for the IOS is pretty much the exact same thing only with improved code.

I'll argue (strongly) the uglier part. Post 4.0 Android can look better- much better. My old DroidX running 2.3 is clunky looking compared to my iPad, but after using my Nexus 7 for a while going back to the iPad is bad. There are some beautiful live widgets for Android, and with a bit of tweaking you can get a system that's far more elegant looking than the boring old "grid of squares".

Consistent is an issue in iOS as well as TFA notes. How do you handle attachments? It's up to the app, and it's often wildly inconsistant across apps. Trying to get tabs into GuitarPro from a couple of different sources (web, mail, dropbox) is an exercise similar to playing an old point-and-click adventure game.

He must not have "power used" his first Android devices. Since setting apps to open certain file types, app to app file sharing, and full U/I customization have been standard in Android for as long as I can remember. But then again, he says he's a "power user" because he uses alot of social networking apps. Apparently dicking around on Facebook and Twitter and uploading photos to flickr qualifies you as a computing power user now.

It's not that Gizmodo is pro-Apple, so much as they're anti-Microsoft - that's why we now have a huge sales pitch (read "article") for a Google product. As long as they don't have to write about Windows smart phones, Gizmodo is happy to be spit-roasted by both Apple and Google.
