They were smart to go with that stumpy look. It's reminiscent of R2-D2, and everyone loves R2-D2.

Not true!  R2 was useless!   They program 1 droid to be fluent in over 6 million languages, another not even fluent in 1!  What's the deal with...

In other news, the earliest stages of a creative design process sometimes do not all that closely resemble the final product.

Really?  Those are "super-scary" designs?

Spiders with clown faces.  Now THAT is a "super-scary" design.

This internet trend of calling anything kinda odd a "terrifying nightmare!!" is getting out of hand.
They look like bad 60's drawings, that's it. Kinda boring actually.

I love the Android mascot now, so I don't care what it took to get there.

It just looks like the Jetson's cartoonists dropped acid and drew a robot.

There was something else going on in Jedi. I never noticed it 'til today. They build another Death Star, right ? The first one was completed and fully operational before the rebels destroyed it. The second one was still being built when they blew it up.- Compliments of Lando Calrissian.

Something just never sat right with me that second time around. I could never put my finger on it, but something just wasn't right. The first Death Star was manned by the lmperial Army. The only people on board were Storm Troopers, dignitaries, imperialists. So when they blew it up, no problem. Evil's punished.

- And the second time around ?

it wasn't even done being built yet. it was still under construction. A construction job of that magnitude would require...a lot more manpower than the lmperial Army had to offer. I'll bet they brought independent contractors in on that thing. Plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers--

- Not just imperials. Is that what you're getting at ?

Exactly. To get it built quickly and quietly, they'd hire anybody that could do the job. You think the average Storm Trooper knows how to install a toilet main ? All they know is killing. So they bring in independent contractors.

- Why are you so upset ?

Those innocent contractors brought in are killed, casualties of a war they had nothing to do with. Look, you're a roofer. Some juicy government contract comes your way. You got a wife and kids, the two-story in suburbia. This is a government contract which means all sorts of benefits. Along come these left-wing militants who blast everything...within a three-mile radius with their lasers. You didn't ask for that; you had no personal politics.

I like these crazy things Irina Blok developed for Google@work, I wonder what some of them stand for:

Bugdroid is awesome and win :3 (And I say that being unreasonably fond of Helvetica Men and the entire concept of The Noun Project, so I figured it was just my fontgeek/signgeek self, but glad to know I'm not alone.) Much happier that they went with Adorable Hevetica BotTM than something out of a post-1988 Olympics mascot lineup :D

/did not know there was such a thing as being a symbol-geek until fairly recently in life
//also unreasonably fond of the Irina Blok Helvetica Men mentioned in the thread

R2 was the secret leader of the rebellion.
