no, trollmitter, the latest round of stimulus was put in place because of the fiscal cliff. in fall, many companies had stopped investing due to the uncertainty, and the stimulus partially offset that.

since most of the tax increases were avoided, less stimulus is needed. but this just means that the bond buying will stop. interest rates probably won't rise for at least another year (or two).

if the cliff was not avoided, the Fed would have expanded bond buying again.

I wondered about the impact of stimulus on the market. The early price stabilization wasn't making much sense otherwise. Downward Housing Slide Part 2 coming soon to a theater near you.

I have my mortgage through my credit union. In the last five years, as rates have decreased in the public banking sector, I have gone to my them and asked, "what can you do for me? At my age, I don't want to reset the clock to 30 years. I need to keep my equity."

For a $1000 fee, they lowered my fixed-rate by a full point. Twice. I'm saving hundreds a month and both deals have more than paid for themselves.

But hey, I'm at 4%. maybe it's time to hit them up again....

At first: THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CREATE ANY JOBS!

Now: WE MUST SOLVE THE FISCAL CLIFF BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT CREATES SO MANY JOBS.

So, what I'm hearing is that the stimulus was a short-term program to sustain the economy through a rough patch and not a permanent increase in forevereverever spending?

As a dim-witted modern Republican, I still cannot fathom this. Your lack of zealous absolutism disturbs me and I refuse to believe anything you say, you slutty, urban, freedom-hating debt-monster!!
