Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, do these sound like the actions of a man whose had ALL he could eat?

So much KC barbecue.

All of it gone.

All of it eaten.

Well, it will be interesting to see Vick in the AFC West. He and Charles will make a pretty good combo, if Vick still has any brain cells left.

/yeayea...did he have any to begin with?

You just settle down now, Beavis. It wasn't that long ago you had Josh McDaniel giving away drafts for 3rd string QB's and such.

Don't worry, having Andy in charge of player personnel isn't going to be much of an improvement.

Should have gone to Texas. Everything's bigger there and the BBQ is better too.

There's all these wild rumors that I hope come true. One is that Andy will get McNabb to be a backup/mentor or even a starter if KC can't find a young QB.

/can't wait for the epic fail.

Vick and Andy are on the outs. He won't be joining the Chefs with Reid at the helm.

Okay, congrats to KC or whatever. But does this mean Jamaal Charles is more or less valuable in FF? I'm thing yes for PPR leagues, no for everything else.

Not to defend the guy but his 2010 draft was pretty good. Demaryius Thomas J.D. Walton Eric Decker

Glad Pioli is out. He strikes me as a guy that works hard, on his excuses.

Is this really a better gig than Arizona? I guess since they are apparently giving Reid GM duties as well, maybe. Still, as hapless as the Cards are, the Chiefs look worse.

And Knowshon (previous draft) has finally showed up as prior to McGahee's injury he was number one on my shiat list. Orakpo was RIGHT THERE for the taking when our defense had more gaping holes than a Teabagger's worldview.

Fast forward to today and, well, okay then. As a Bronco fan I'm obviously glad how things have turned in the last couple of years. And if we did take Orakpo it's a resonable assumption we wouldn't have Von Miller.

Still glad to be rid of McDaniels, though.

Pssh. Kansas did that to us when they hired Weis.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Reid can't possibly drag the team lower, so it's only a matter of how high he can go. Next big ticket item is a quarterback. Pickin's be slim this year, unless we can somehow convince Klein out of K-State... even that's not as good as it could be.

Reid will let the clock run out on the first pick, losing it to Jax.

Klein is a senior so that won't be hard and we could use another tight end.

The bolded part is exactly why Reid would never come here. We just went through that set up with Whiz. That's not happening with the next coach.

Whether or not this works out for the Chiefs obviously remains to be seen. But as a fan, I'm pleased that the team owner was able to move so quickly and make these changes. I really didn't think he had it in him.

I wonder if the Save our Chiefs page had a hand, as well. If it did, Browns fans take note.

This really could fix a lot of things in KC.

Hell, a 2-14 team sending FIVE people to the pro-bowl has got to be salvageable. Replace the QB, add one more decent receiver, and go buy a lineman that can get to the QB and they will be right back in the playoffs. They have salary cap available to do all of those things.

I liked what someone said yesterday. Draft Teo and trade a pick for a well established backup like Flynn/Cousins. There's got to be some okay WR out there who will be a FA.

Indeed. Everything has a purpose and everything works out in the end.

McDaniels at least did us the favor of getting Cutler's whiny biatch emo ass out of town. He can still EABOD, but I can credit him for this.

I think they can technically franchise Bowe for another year; that and maybe trying for a WR in the 3rd round or something might work. Or maybe just cross your fingers that either Baldwin or Breaston will improve with a real coach.

Sad thing is, we did pretty good on defense. Kept a lot of teams to some of their lowest scores of the season, at least for 3 quarters. When the offense is so unproductive though... if I had a dollar for everytime we got to the red zone and didn't score a TD, I could buy the team myself. So another good lineman would be nice, but I think someone who's great on coverage would be just as helpful.

And make sure the QB knows which color uniforms are ours.

That's what I keep thinking. KC just offered him personnel duties right off the bat. Hell, he should have interviewed with the Cards anyway, see if KC would sweeten the deal a little. Reid doesn't strike me as that type of guy though.

San Diego and Chicago are both better jobs than the Cards or Chiefs.

Chiefs had the #20 defense.

Falcons - 40
Bills - 35
Saints - 24
Chargers - 37
Ravens - 9
Buccs - 38
Raiders - 26
Chargers - 31
Steelers - 16
Bengals - 28
Broncos - 17
Panthers - 21
Browns - 30
Raiders - 15
Colts - 20
Broncos - 38

Half of their games they gave up more than three touchdowns. If the Chiefs don't blitz the opposing QB just has to wait for someone to get open.

Happen to have stats broken down by quarter? Willing to bet a lot of that is due to fourth quarter breakdowns. Not saying it is a top level defense, just a little above.

A lot of that might have to do with their sh*t-ass offense.

Just looking at Game 1

10 10 14 6

Now, that's a lot of points in the early part of the game, and honestly, the KC defense got worked. BUT Atlanta also started with the ball in KC territory on 4 of 9 drives, and three of their scoring drives covered less than 10 yards (2 FG, 1 TD).

So their defense sucked, but the offense piled on top.

Isn't that kind of the Chiefs have always done though? Cassel was Brady's backup. Trent Green was Kurt Warner's backup. Elvis Grbac, Steve Bono, and Steve DeBerg were all backups to Steve Young (and Montana would have been Young's backup had he not been traded). It seems to me like they should try something different. Especially since Flynn couldn't even beat out Jackson or Wilson and Cousins is a rookie whose "well established-ness" is a game and a half with 4 TDs and 3 picks. It just sucks that KC had to be terrible in a year without a real top prospect QB.

rugman11: Especially since Flynn couldn't even beat out Jackson or Wilson

Ummm Flynn beat out Jackson pretty easily. And "couldn't even beat out the statistically best QB in the NFL over the second half of the season" isn't bad. The previous guy he "couldn't beat out" was the MVP.

Maybe you want to hire him as a backup, at least, since whoever is in front of him plays fantastically.
