I'm sure they'll be much happier with Billy Cundiff.

Shiat like this makes me question if my friends who dropped their social networking accounts weren't doing something right.

I was under the impression that the entire black hole supports their kicker by simultaneously drinking a crappy beer and rotating it.

In fairness, that may be because SeaBass seems like he's capable of spending every offseason like Jay and Silent Bob, looking up all their names and booting their asses to the moon. And they have a long offseason EVERY year.

Why would any Raiders nutjob fan want to off the best player on the team?

Or for that matter, the second best player on the team...Shane Lechler.

I still blame Lee Evans WAY more than Cundiff. Who is a choker that choked and hasn't recovered mentally yet.

But Evans rode pine for a season then failed to secure a ball in the endzone after an easy catch.

From the sublime to the ridiculous there is only a missed kick.

Uh, make that 13 missed kicks.

Death threats are awful, obviously.

Akers has been terrible though. Is Cundiff better? Hard to say. But Cundiff was better last regular season than Akers has been this year.

Of course, Akers last year was tremendous. So who knows.

Akers is in the twilight of his career at this point, I'm not sure why you'd direct death threats at him as opposed to the guys keeping him on staff (and getting Cundiff as his replacement). Akers did well last year and honestly for a 38 year old in the NFL isn't doing horribly. Clearly though it is time to get a possible replacement on the roster at the very least. If this is some college kicker the coaches have a hard on for maybe grab him a later round of the draft, if not, go riffle through the undrafted free agent pool.

/I'd keep Akers around to mentor the new guy and for occasional light duty, unless he's tying up too much cap room for some odd reason

Dude,

Akers had double sports hernia surgery this offseason. Cut him some friggin' slack. That's no easy thing to rehab from, especially at his age.

Not for long.  I hope you're ready for the Marquette King era.  There's a reason the Raiders stashed this back-up punter on injured reserve all season.  Lechler is too expensive for Reggie to keep, and King can punt for 70 yards.

/of course, it's unlikely he's a better QB than Leinhert, which Lechler clearly is.

Came to say this, plus when have the Raiders played a game that had meaning past week 4 of the season?

Dafatone: Akers has been terrible though.

I believe that the motivation for Joe Montana and Steve Young to score so many touchdowns was that Bill/George would just lean in and quietly say, "If you don't get six points, we're giving the ball to him," while gesturing towards Mike Cofer.

I always wanted to see Lechler start a game as QB. If Brady can be a punter, Lechler can be a QB. I was upset we didn't get a chance to see him last season other than that fake field goal that was absolutely magnificent.

I hate how Dennis Allen/Kenzie keep getting praised for taking a team that went 8-8 two years in a row and swept the division to a 4-12 team that could only beat the fing Cheifs.

I admire the Raiders' dedication to failure. If Allen gets the team up to 8-8 at some point, you know he's going to get fired, just like his predecessors.

Was going to post another Charlie Brown-walk pic of George Sr. or Tobias but this looks more befitting of Cundiff.

What I don't understand is the 49ers were 6-2 when Smith got benched and eventually replaced by Kaepernick, but Akers is either still nursing that injury or just came down with a big-time case of the yips, and Harbaugh refused to acknowledge there was a problem until now. That cost us at least two games this season. As a fan, I'm a little nervous. Hopefully, Kaepernick & Co. just run over whoever shows up to the 'Stick and all Cundiff or Akers would need to do is kick PATs.

/I wish, anyway. Probably not going to happen.
