I wish I could still watch news channels.

Living with my lame girlfriend now.

She only watches BS like "American Ass Pickers," or "Some A-Hole Travels to a Restaurant."

Life sucks.

mbillips: So, will they keep the Current TV brand and throw Al Jazeera programming on it, or will Al Jazeera's 24-hour news channel finally get on my local cable package? Because I've been wanting that for a long time; they're the second-best 24-hour news channel out there, next to the BBC.

Undoubtedly so. The government of Qatar bought the 2022 World Cup. They can certainly afford to buy access to your television.

Am I supposed to be offended by this sale?
My mother (once a even keeled, slightly liberal Democrat... turned into a Rush is Right, the world is against us, brown people are bad crazy tea party conservative almost overnight) was mad this morning about it, and tried to pick a fight with me over it.
"Al Gore sold his news channel to Al-Jazeera... wouldn't sell it to Glenn Beck, but sold it to the Arabs".

I see no issue with it, but apparently she believes it is run by the Taliban

Thunderpipes: Al sold his network to an Oil country, which he is supposed to hate.

This is a bit of a stretch, but sure, why not.

AJ is a mouthpiece for terrorists, this is fact.

Do please explain this one.

He tried to avoid capital gains taxes by getting the deal closed in time, right after going on TV and saying how the rich need to pay their fair share.

Setting aside his responsibility to Current's other stakeholders, I'll concede another 'Al Gore is a hypocrite' point.

But millions of American liberals worship the guy and he is the very thing he is supposed to hate.

Area man passionate opponent of what he imagines "millions of American liberals worship".

So my ex-Mother in Law's spirit has taken over your girlfriend. Pro-tips: She'll want Happy Meal hamburgers with one slice of tomato and real onion. You can't order it from the drive thru; you'll have to go in and argue with a different employee every night. She'll demand the higher priced adult diapers but take them out of the package and put them in a waste basket. Then you can sneak the cheapos while she's watching "Food You'd Never Cook Cooked by an Obese Diabetic" There's a hot Italian lady on "Old Country Cooking with Hot Italian Babe." Don't stare too much and she won't change the channel to "Old Game Shows Where People Get Excited About Winning $500".

fickenchucker: Al Gore is a dick and a hypocrite on many issues, but I will give him credit for being a great money-hungry capitalist.

Seriously, though, even assuming AJ is evil, our country is founded on freedom of speech. Insane thoughts are allowed to exist for a reason--in order to advertise the opposing opinion, and to clarify who the nuts are.

Nazis and Westboro Baptist Church are allowed to do their things because of this freedom, so what's the big deal with an Arabic news channel that we all know covers legitimate news as well as broadcasts terrorist insanity?

Westboro did not win a Nobel Peace prize for compassion and then show up to protest funerals.

Al sold his network to an Oil country, which he is supposed to hate. AJ is a mouthpiece for terrorists, this is fact. He tried to avoid capital gains taxes by getting the deal closed in time, right after going on TV and saying how the rich need to pay their fair share.

Absolutey he has, and should have the right to do all this. But millions of American liberals worship the guy and he is the very thing he is supposed to hate.

Who'll be my news channel
now that my news channel is gone, gone
It ducked back down the alley with some
roly-poly little bat-faced former vice president
All along, along
There were incidents and accidents
There were hints and allegations

Gore could have waited until the start of the fiscal cliff tax increases that he wanted to impose on the rest of the US. Y'know, just to be fair.

A few of my more "redneck" friends on Facebook picked up on this story and posted how Al Gore was benefiting from a terrorist organization.

It took me a minute to figure it out when I realized that I though they had mistaken Al Jazeera for Al Qaeda.

I thought we'd all have a big laugh about the mistake. I was wrong. They are actually functionally retarded and believe that the news organization is a wing of a terrorist org.

This weekend I start de-friending.
