Goddammit so much.

In July, the then-33 unsuccessful attempts by House Republicans to repeal the law had used up around 80 hours of time in Congress, or two full work weeks, at a cost of around $48 million.

Goddammit ever so much.

Maybe the bigger concern is that two hours of congress's time is apparently worth over a million dollars.

She has the gold-plated health care package through her job doesn't she? So she's openly taking this away from Americans who don't have coverage?

I don't get how a politician can survive doing this without everyone ganging up on her.

Someone should introduce a bill to repeal Congress's health care package. And, retirement annuity.

It's called a campaign promise, libbies. You know, those utterances the Dems like to spew to get elected, then toss them out like the contents of the litter box from a 2nd floor apartment window because you're too lazy to dump it in the trash, and take it to the dumpster.

This is what extreme gerrymandering gets you. Instead of trying to govern, they give us stale political theater. They KNOW that any bill to repeal Obamacare is doomed. The Senate won't pass it, and the President won't sign it. But they do it so that they can go back to their crazy-mandered district and say they titled at the windmill of Obamacare. Sure, they didn't actually halp anyone (besides a few fat-cat donors), but they "tried" to kill Obamacare.

While true, the fact that you can manage to secure a Congressional seat with this behavior through any amount of gerrymandering is an indictment of the American voting public. In a sane country she (and most Republicans) would have fewer than ten supporters.

this is useless....they know there's no way this could succeed so why would they waste everyone's time?

I've been making exactly this point for some time now. In any normal, modern democracy, you'd have to go out and actively search for enough crazy/stupid people within the general populace to try to get these idiots elected, maybe by going door to door or with a very narrowly targeted ad campaign. I'd be something of a task to both identify and mobilize the few nutjobs just sort of atomistically floating around out there.

In the US? Hell, we've got millions of them in every state, often living contiguously to one another, and they always vote. Draw your districts just right, and you can't lose, no matter how insane your candidate is.

THAT is the real root of our political problems.
