To be fair, they could be controlled by women pretending to be thin.

Also, this is the best line in TFA:    Naturally, "only humanoid avatars that were not covered by fur were included in the analysis."

Welcome to Second Life, where the women are men, the animals are men, the men are boys and the children are FBI agents.

Bullseyed: meanmutton: Didn't anyone go out on New Year's Eve? Same thing applies IRL -- the women wear the tiniest thing they can get away with while the men cover damn near every inch of skin with multiple layers.

Came essentially for this.

In real life women show about twice as much skin as men.

Let's make male cleavage shirts a thing. Someone start selling them.

For me, its more a case of "If I am going to spend hours staring at a computer generated ass running around, I will make damn sure it's a cute ass!".

Yeppers

I did that once in an MMO and got tired of all the "guy crap" that guys do to/around/say to female chars in those games. Afterwards, the only fem toons I played were intentionally designed to be as ugly as the creator allowed for, and gave them unashamedly "guy-ish" names

/pig faced ugly dwarf female named "Hotdump"
//fem orc named "Farteater"
///everyone assumed I was a dude, funny how that works

The male avatars make up for it by building penises everywhere.

If you make a character on game that requires literally weeks of your life, your mental gender is in question if you choose to impersonate a female character albeit animated. It is a personal opinion of mine that is interesting to discuss with folks such as yourself whenever this topic comes up.

I've done the whole female SL avatar and even my male avatar is feminine looking. I figure that I just have a strong feminine side to my personality that I like being able to express.

OMG

I always play a male character because, I'm MALE!! My on-line characters are always burly hairy men. The only option I insist on is that each is equipped with a vagina. I'm not sure why...I like the fronts to be smooth and all, so as not to take away from the armor. The only problem I'm having is that 3 days out of the month, my characters bloat and I get real biatchy...they always ban me from the raids around then for some reason.

Most of the online identities I have are female, as well.

It's actually kind of weird for me that I'm a guy here on Fark.

What's amusing to me is that everyone posting so far keeps referring to "playing" Second Life, which no Second Lifer would ever say. "It's not a game, asshat it's a second life!"

To be fair, furries are almost like a sexual orientation unto themselves.

/I always tell them "I have a really weird fetish - I'm only into hairless bipedal apes"

Majin_Buu: Carn: At least they're not furries.

Furries don't wear clothes. And hippies don't eat bacon.

And that's why they're not to be trusted. The hippies I mean.

Last time I checked (a few years ago, haven't been back) Second Life was over run by furies. It amazes me that their are people on there that still pretend to be human.
