The Angry Hand of God: dwyw: The Angry Hand of God: As a not proud owner of an iPhone, all I ask is a way to remove that damn stock ticker without having to go through the process of jailbreaking my phone. Why would this even be there by default? I am fairly certain that over 50% of iPhone owners have absolutely no stocks, and 95% don't even follow their investments that closely.

Um, Settings>Notifications>Stock Widget>Notification Center: Off

Thanks. I had an Android forever, until my work gave me an iPhone. To be honest, I haven't even bothered to go through all the settings. All I want is my Android back...

I hear ya. I have an Android, but occasionally have to do iOS development for work and it's like being beaten by a sock full of quarters.

ganzonomy: google didn't seek the patent, being all kind-hearted. apple did.

Apple gets patent, the IP is apple's.

GO APPLE! (I tend to favor those who protect their IP, or are smart enough to take other's IP and patent it before the inventor realizes it... moneymaking = survival)

You aren't very good at RTFA, are you?

FTFA: The internet search giant actually filed its own patent application for what it calls "Notification Bar" in 2009, some two years prior to Apple's "Notification Center" filing.

tech patents like this are killing innovation. if the car were developed today it would be patented as a "device for moving people around" and prevent any improvements.

Irving Maimway: And Google got hit with the "You have to license your patents and not sue anyone" ruling today from the FTC. This hasn't been smacked on Apple because...?

Those are standards essential patents and subject to FRAND licensing terms (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms).
