I Love My Ducks (Return of the Quack)

I know it's old, but who doesn't like looking at cheerleaders?

I don't see Chip Kelly's style of play working nearly as well in the NFL as it does at Oregon. The only benefit he gets from moving to the NFL is the allowance to lose a game or two and still make it into championship contention. And it seems like Oregon always manages to not click for at least one of their games every season.

Lanche Seastruck, the Baylor running back that ruined Kansas State's perfect season, couldn't was only a bench-warmer at Oregon so look for the Ducks to run all over K-State.

Ducks got this

Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Go Cats!

Another story line: will this bowl game be at full capacity and not have glaring empty sections?

He'd be insane to leave Oregon.

I tend to agree, but then again I never thought the Redskins high school offense would lead to RG3/Morris running wild and ridiculously wide open wide receivers on every play action.

Pity this isnt on free broadcast TV.

I contend that Oregon has the hottest cheerleaders of any school. Or at least they did a couple of years ago.

I'm hoping this game is as entertaining as the Baylor/K-State game was earlier this season.

Oregon seems to "not click" when either Coach Kelly is distracted by something or they face a team with a very punishing defense with a pro-style offense. Translation: that is not a good fit for the NFL.

Going further, Kelly is able to succeed because he can create an offense that almost always has matchup problems against college defenses. Most defenses are not deep enough or conditioned well enough to deal with Oregon's offensive pressure for an entire game; on top of that, most teams don't have the time to open their defense up with speed so as to match up against the Ducks. To this point, he can recruit players that fit his system, and though he may have an undersized o-line he is able to make it work because college football has many more lanes and holes, and players who are less capable to react to the spread option, screens, or plays with a lot of downfield blocking. The NFL is a different animal altogether... he won't have the matchups each and every time because the NFL is entirely made up of speed, he won't be able to "recruit" guys that fit his system with the ease at which he can in college, and NFL defensive backs will have no problem finding ways to ensure his receivers think twice about blocking (sometimes holding) all the way down the field.

If I were looking to hire a coach, today, I'd be calling Louisville's coach for the amazing performance he put on last night, particularly on offense. You heard it time and time again from the QB in postgame interviews: "Coach told us to take what the defense gave us." His team played with class, too, unlike Florida.

It's kind of funny to me how ESPN is completely burying the fact that Floria got torched last night.

Instead they're talking up the NFL.

He's going to pull a Pete Carroll and get out of town before The Ducks ends up on NCAA probation. He'll get a fat paycheck and Oregon will be punished

Super! I just love watching national championship gam...wait, I don't have ESPN...

All you Oregon haters can suck it. GO DUCKS!!! :)

Ok, I sure hope all this CHIP TO NFL?!?!?! business won't distract the team and lead to another bowl game letdown. They pulled it off last year so I have hope. As for the NCAA, I guess we'll find that out one way or the other.

KState, no hard feelings but YOU'RE GOING DOWN!! :D

Lots of Oregon love so far in this thread. This KSU alum is speaking up for the Cats. Go State!

Awww, bulldg you're not a Beev fan are you?? (kidding...sorta)

As a Duck though I hope it isn't too severe, but let's face it - you have to follow the rules. My only gripe is it seems like the SEC teams can get away with this crap but any other conference, they get shut down for anything. Still, if you screwed up, you gotta pay up. I guess we'll know the truth of what really went down when the NCAA finally gets off its behind and goes to work.

Haha. No, Oregon is awesome.

I saw the Scott Van Pelt play card and almost fell over laughing.

Lovely photos, Mr. Beard Shaver. Really! But can the Colin Klein show stand up to the Mariota, Barner, Huff, DeAnthony, Lyerla show???

'Cats are going down!!! Have a wonderful evening!

OK, smack talk over for now. Time to finish up the last of my work and get to a little pregaming... If nothing else, both Kstate and Oregon are very respectable programs and have come a long way. It should be a fun game :D

As long as Knight is financing your program you have nothing to worry about.

All the pundits seem to think this is in the bag for Oregon, so as a supporter of the Wildcats, I'll just enjoy it.

IMO, If K-State wins, Ty Zimmerman (free safety) will be the player you hear about in the post game.

Go Cats.

Why do FAIL NFL teams never stop their FAIL ways?

Jags getting Tebow.

Browns getting Kelly.

Both moves relegate them to mediocrity for years to come.

Just out of curiosity, how does a professor from Estonia decide to root for Kansas State? Did you study there at some point?

They talked about it all day, the Florida fans in the office were biatching at me to change the channel, I refused just to torture them and then every once in a while I would ask "How'd Florida do last night!?" Most of them had headphones in by lunchtime.

Well rumor is that they are about to get the NCAA smack down from those payments, again rumors mean shiat, auburn was supposed to sit out cam but nothing came of that either.

My (all over the place) thoughts:

1. I don't like the "nothing to play for" arguments. In my eyes, they're pre-emptive excuses. Motivation is a huge part of coaching. If you can't motivate, then that takes you down a peg as a leader and a coach.

2. A Chip Kelly offense in the NFL is liable to get someone killed, as in cause them to literally lose their life on the field. Of course, I think he'll be smart enough to modify it and may surprise some people. I have my own doubts simply because he has only ever known college coaching. Very intelligent guy, no NFL experience whatsoever.

3. Lou Holtz seems like a nice man but he is unintelligible and it is getting worse.

4. I think Oregon should win easily, but my sentimental favorite is Kansas State. He worked closely with Hayden Fry and I'm just gonna have a soft spot for almost anybody who worked with Hayden.
