Sound like it is just Italian banks which are not allowed to operate tehre. I'm surprised other nations' banks haven't stepped forward.

CSB time: I used to travel to Burma (Myanmar) for work and had to travel there with hundreds of dollars in cash because there are no banks allowed to operate due to sanctions. Except the international hotel chains. There you could use your credit card for a 4% "fee". All of these transactions are routed through Singapore in defiance of the current UN sanctions ( I think Lee Kwan Yew personally collected 2% of that) .

I bet the Vatican could strike a deal with a bank from some other country quite easily and go on their merry way of selling their wares to the dupes who go there.

I'm sure that the lack of adequate safeguards against money-laundering at the Vatican bank was purely an oversight.  It goes without saying.

In fact, forget you read this.

Revelations! That's right, the word
of God, which let me add there is
damn good money in during these days
of woe and want! Folks're lookin'
for answers and Big Dan Teague sells

old_toole: Jesus is always on your side my son, he just doesn't give a shiat about your finances. That's a job for the church

In that regard, the church don't giveth and the church just taketh away!

Personally, I'd look for a religion that guarantees salvation or triple your money back.

Cheron: When I was back there in
seminary school
There was a person there
Who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord
with prayer
Petition the Lord with prayer
Petition the Lord with prayer
You cannot petition the Lord
with prayer

Excellent song.

Let's really throw is out of (or into) context, shall we?

Peppermint, miniskirts, chocolate candy
Champion sax and a girl named Sandy
There's only four ways to get unraveled
One is to sleep and the other is travel, da da
One is a bandit up in the hills
One is to love your neighbor 'till
His wife gets home

kindms: touring the vatican "museum" is all one needs in order to understand the church is complete BS.

They have priceless art, sculpture etc etc all plundered from all corners of earth. Most of it should have been returned to the people from whence it was stolen thousands of years ago.

It wasn't a very christian place IMHO.

If they really were the church of Jesus all of that stuff would have been returned or sold off for the good of the meek.

Ok, I'll bite. What did they steal? Most was commissioned or purchased.

Though I do agree on the not very christian place it does have some great art.

"In his homily to 10,000 people in St. Peter's Basilica, the 85-year-old pontiff said the world is "sadly marked by hotbeds of tension and conflict caused by growing inequality between the rich and poor, by the prevalence of a selfish and individualistic mindset which also finds expression in an unregulated capitalism."

Kind of a oops moment here with the timing.

A little foldin' money will take care of that.

Without credit cards, it will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a tourist to enjoy a trip to Vatican City. But with cash, all things are possible.

Catholicism should work in something like the hajj in Islam. It'd be a cash cow.

It's simple. They will only take cash because it's easier to avoid taxes on cash sales....wait a minute.
