Wise_Guy: theknuckler_33: Wise_Guy: Damn. You can even make fun of a bunch of tacky crap without democrats getting all bent out of shape because they perceive it as a slight against their guy. "B-b-but Bush!" Jesus. Bush was an idiot and a crappy president--what does that have to do with this garbage that makes the Franklin Mint looks respectable? Grow up. Some of you guys make the idiots in congress look mature.

Making fun of the tacky crap is one thing. Suggesting that the tacky crap makes the man 'less presidential'... you know, the exactly farking thing the headline says... is quite another.

Oh no! Better rally the troops!

Grow up already. Idiot.

When people grow up, they recognize the difference between making fun of tacky crap and criticizing someone for doing totally farking normal shiat like drinking a beer or being shirtless at the beach. They also recognize that making fun of people who do the latter is not 'getting bent out of shape' about 'their guy' being criticized, but rather mocking the people doing the criticizing for being so colossally farking stupid.

So, you know, go on and knock yourself out and criticize Obama all you want. There's plenty of things to criticize. But it's really REALLY stupid to go the route subby did and you should expect to be mocked for that stupidity if you choose that route.

bunner: DownDaRiver: Well, Clinton did seriously lower the bar standard of being presidential.
So it doesn't take much these days to be above it.

Actually, it's quite easy to rise above any given bar. You look at the bar, say "somebody seems to have placed this bar here and assigned great importance to it", and then get on with the business of doing what you came to do.

Not really all that sure what that means.
But if what you are tring to say is that, you would buy me a beer down at the bar. Well then, I'll accept.

You wouldn't care if it was an inaccurate, trolly headline about Bush.

theknuckler_33: If it is true that you couldn't get a free Obama bumper sticker at the campaign office (or any other campaign event for that matter), then I find that far more disturbing than selling inauguration swag. In fact, I wonder if that would even be legal as it seems like a forced campaign contribution in some way.

Because you have a legal right to bumper stickers?

Clearly a 'Shop. I haven't seen gas prices that low since well before Obama was in office.

Nope. It was on South Main Street, Columbia, SC and now it is a "beer warehouse". . It was so funny how it went national and then went bottoms up.

Obama's inaugural committee had a similar store for his first swearing-in four years ago. Proceeds go toward fundraising efforts for the parade, balls and other inaugural celebrations.

You mean instead of making the TAXPAYERS pay for it all?!

You're a politician asking for my support, not a fashionable brand, dammit. Admittedly, this is a somewhat different situation than Barry's wanting to charge me to advertise him. But, still...

I got my "Obama 2012" magnetic sticker for free and the 2008 Obama T-shirt for free online.

Now, what would be funny and awkward is if you made your own campaign bumper sticker to show your support and then got sued for copyright infringement.

So, a man bring a six of MGD to the party, and he STILL can't get a slice of pepperoni and cheese? Now, you know that's just wrong! Maybe if he had outsourced the knickknacks to China so the neighbors wont think that we are so poor we have to make knick knacks for some uppity house party. *snort*

Bermuda59: Meanwhile in some third-world hellhole, someone is wearing a Romney-Ryan Inauguration t-shirt

I actually went to the '09 inauguration (I had an invite from Senator Badass, but I was still a quarter-mile away, right across the reflecting pool) and a couple months later gave this t-shirt to a then-friend in her then-third-world hellhole.  (It's been developing rapidly, so I think its third-world membership may have been revoked.  And her status and location got some upgrades since then, too.)  ...her boobs were nicknamed "Barack" and "Joe" for quite some time, as a result.

I won't be there this time around (I got a full-time job shortly after the firs term started and am pretty sure I have to work) but it's okay, I don't like most of this year's designs as much.  The little inaugural committee lapel pin isn't half-bad, but I spend pretty damn little time in anything with a lapel... or a collar... or buttons...

stuffy: Damn it subby why couldn't you have put this up before Christmas or X-mass whatever offends you the most.  My family hates him, and I could have saved lots of shopping time.

I have a relative in DC who delights in Christmas-shopping at the "gift shops" of various three-letter agencies.  (My baby received a CIA bib, with a note saying not to wear it outside the US.)  Said relative's spouse is about as conservative as they come... but I'm not sure the prank would be worth the money. ;)

There's a marked difference between making a point and making a claim. Claims need to be backed up by argument, using things like reason, facts and examples before the point is made.

Your claim is Obama's incompetence. Go ahead and make your case, we're all dying to hear it.

Yeah, but BofA and Halliburton didn't file Chapter 11 - Solyndra did. Ergo, Solyndra is morally bad, while BofA and Halliburton are as lily-white as white lillies who never did anything wrong.

I guess I never really finished the only-tangentially-related csb. I did actually get the Obama '08 sticker for free in the end. I gave an angry little speech and stormed out. I was chased down the street by some poor volunteer carrying a free sticker. The sticker was from the diffusion label, though, rather than being from the signature label of political fashion accessories. White background, with red and white letters and without the sunrise "O". I still displayed it. I wouldn't have looked cool either way.

MrHelpful: It speaks for itself. The guy is good at campaigning...everything else, he's worthless.

We already get that you think so, you're just repeating your earlier unsupported claim. The things is, if he's incompetent and worthless as a president, if that can be claimed as a true statement, then there must be some metrics by which his competence and worth are measured. Meaning that, in such an analysis, we would point to certain real-world indicators of how the office of the president is performing. Without understanding that those metrics exist, what they include and what they tell us, there's no logical means by which to claim the success or failure of a president.

Since you've made such a claim, we all expect that you've examined the facts in order to arrive at your conclusion. And since you're in here announcing your conclusion, we're giving you the opportunity to support it.

Unless of course you're just in here parroting the opinions that you've heard other people say, and have chosen to adopt those opinions as your own because those people belong to a group that you identify with. But I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not just in here talking about things that you don't know anything about. So again, please, do go on.

I have found that Democratic campaigns are religious in their use of union shops. I was involved in a campaign where the cards and envelopes were donated by a volunteer, printed at campaign HQ, and a couple were returned to us with SCAB! written on them, because there was no union bug. People who care about unions care about them, and people who don't...don't. Ever notice at a union hall that there are signs up saying "We appreciate if only American union-made vehicles are parked in this lot"? It's not all of them, but the rank and file trade union members tend to be pretty consistent on these things.
