Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan doesn't like that Obama uses the government to pick which industries win and which industries lose, and Jon Stewart looked at just why it's a problem last night on The Daily Show. Turns out, it's a philosophical issue. Government money shouldn't be going into specific industries like green energy companies.

So where should money go? You know, technology and science research, Pell grants, infrastructure. Wait, hold on. "That's picking winners and losers!" Stewart said. "Investing in roads, rails, and air traffic is saying yes to cars, trains, and planes but f**k the bicycles. It may be a good decision but it's still picking winners and losers, and the government has always done that."

So the government made a loan to a US car maker, which includes provisions to get the money back in the case of a bankruptcy, and somehow, Republicans are outraged.

I was at the Delaware Beaches (Dewey) for New Years and the beach itself was just fine. The whole town (elevation 1.5 feet) seemed to be up and running.

The Fisker has a turbocharged gasoline generator. The batteries only take it a couple dozen miles before it kicks in. The electric motors put out nearly 500 ft.lbs of torque to the wheels though.

I was at Rehoboth the week after the storm and took some pictures of the "damage" looked fine to me. But that plant sounds like a boondoggle with a serious lack of leadership.

Just what Delaware needed, a double fisking.

So, a company gets money from the Advanced Technologies Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program to develop an advanced technology vehicle and then has the money halted for not meeting milestones. That seems like it is exactly as it is supposed to work.

The state paid to get the plant to locate there. That happens all the time with many industries and is entirely the state's problem.

They meant well, so it's all good.
