Really miss the old days when you got an envelope of white powder, all you needed to do was snort it.

A 3-day waiting period and background check before buying flour is obviously needed.

moothemagiccow: syberpud: They did it purely to demonize law-abiding citizens. It will only lead to people NOT registering their handguns. Who wants their info published in the paper (even if it is publicly available)?

Law-abiding citizens don't pour flour in envelopes and mail them to journalists. That's domestic terrorism, honey.

Hey sweet cheeks, why do we just ASSUME it's some evil gun owner who sent this envelope to the paper?

The profession of "journalist" is full of vapid, self centered attention whores, sugar.

Newspaper publishes controversial story, hires armed guards & gets a lot of "blow back" for it.

Someone associated with said newspaper sends an "envelope full of domestic terrorism" as you called it, sweetie pie. Of course it turns out to be harmless.

Newspaper people now look like the victims of a bunch of crazed gun yahoos and become what they like to be the best. The center of the story.

I'm gonna say that's more likely than some cross eyed gun yahoo doing it....

Perhaps someone wanted the journalists to be able to make some delicious, yummy cake.
It was a nice gesture and now you've turned it into something cynical and scary.

Oh, snap.

FTA: While 37.5 per cent of the homicides involved guns, 25 per cent were a result of blunt force trauma and 12.5 per cent were drownings

I find this...odd. Is drowning a popular murderkilldie method in Canada? Are the mounties on the look out for men walking aboot with large tubs of water? Just odd.

Should've sealed your envelope better.

In Florida, it would be much easier to list those who DO NOT HAVE guns. All 5 of them.

buckler: Loadmaster: MorePeasPlease: I thought it funny when someone questioned why the paper wasn't publishing the home addresses of the armed guards it hired.

This was also mentioned in today's Day By Day comic strip:

I don't even understand the punchline panel in context with the rest of the strip. Conservative "humor" strikes again.

I don't think any kind of humor came anywhere close to that cartoon.

david_gaithersburg: jaytkay: Where's the story here?

Legal gun owners are simply responding in their typical law-abiding, responsible, calm, and rational manner.

.
The reporters at this publication are attention whores, my bet is that they mailed it to themselves.

This is why we need an "Unfunny" button.

Would a newspaper mail themselves a suspicious white powder to create news? Surely not. I just wonder.

I thought the party of small government already introduced "Free Speech Zones" in the land of the brave and free?!

That was different because it was only targeting hippies.

.
As a gun toting hippie it seems like I never get a break.

Two things:
1) Ban mailing and shipping, or at the very least put some common sense controls in like waiting periods, background checks, and registrations.
2) I bet the attention whore newspaper staff mailed it themselves. Gotta keep the outrage rolling.

I mean, I never go to the sports tab, I never go to the business tab, I rarely go to the politics tab....

I think a Guns or Gun Violence tab would be extremely popular on this website.

Citizen, you will not be required to have a speech permit. Limit yourself to the Newspeak A dictionary or you will be double plus ungood.

Canada has a lot of ice. Smashing a block of ice over a person's head and allowing it to melt and fill the victim's lungs is a popular method of homicide.

/Canada is cold.
