The game was essentially the NFC East championship game, with the loser definitely going home.
And the game meant MUCH more to Romo than RGIII.  RGIII is a rookie, and he appears to have a bright future, and will have plenty of opportunities over the next decade it appears if he has the tools around him to get the Skins deep into the playoffs.  Romo's been the starting QB for the Cowboys for 7 seasons and NEEDED this win badly, as the only talking point about him now is that he is 1-6 in "win or go home" games.
One could look at that comment as a swipe to Romo, to say to his face "This game doesn't mean anything".

Despite the rapening he gave the Saints, I like RGIII.  He's fun to watch, he seems like a classy guy.  Now that the Saints are done, I'm hoping he brings home a ring this year.

Nope. As far as I can tell, Dallas fans hate the Redskins, but respect RG3.

Nobody can be mad at that guy. Gah, he's f'ing perfect.

Heard the whole NFL films soundtrack on Sound FX last night, he really does seem to always seem to know the right thing to say, except when Santana Moss seemed like he wanted to make out with him on the sidelines, but it's hard to blame a guy like Moss who has been a great player on a bad team, for loving the QB that brought him back to the playoffs in the twilight of his career.  My favorite moment is when he's in the huddle giving another inspirational speech, and then pauses, looks around and say "oh, so you all want me to give you the play too?"  Good to see he can laugh at himself.

RG3 is exceptionally articulate compared to his peers. I like listening to his interviews because he actually imparts information and perspective when he talks.

RG3 is akin to Emmitt Smith in terms of likeability.
As a 49er fan, I go berserk when Aikman is doing his Baghdad Bob routine as color commentator on 49er games, but Emmitt is so hard to dislike, I'd sign a petition to add "debacled" to the dictionary.

It's really weird this season to have 3-4 of the most high profile rookies also be cool/interesting/smart people as well. The NFL is going to cash in on this draft class like crazy. Luck, Wilson & RG3 will probably end up being the face of the NFL a la Brady/Manning within a few years if not sooner.

Well, luckily for Romo, he plays in a low-profile football city where the fanbase is forgiving.

He's just echoing every Redskins fan. Ruh-roh... err, I mean Tony Romo, is an outstanding quarterback who just needs a few things to go his way. Give the guy another 25 years, and we'll see where he stands then. But don't just go and sweep the rug out from under a guy who's barely beenin the league for a decade. Sheesh. That team is *really close*, they just need more time contructed EXACTLY as they are from the top down. And then more time... and more time... and more... and more... and more.

Yeah...Luck, RG3 & Wilson are all legitimately intelligent guys who just happen to be in a profession where we sometimes make the blanket assumption most of its participants are dumbasses.

Hell, I wouldn't mind hiring any of those three to do my taxes this year.

The big difference Sunday night was not at QB, but at RB. Washington has a franchise back, who had a great game. Dallas has running back by committee, and they made a few good plays. Romo's first two picks were essentially unreturned punts (not so bad). The 3rd pick was a killer.
Romo is above average. Griffin is better than that, and has a franchise back to lean on.
Dallas has better players at a lot of positions. Washington neutralized a very good DE with pure misdirection for a lot of the 3rd quarter--amazing.

I like RG3 and all...but to be honest, if I was a veteran and some rookie told ME not to feel bad about "what people said about" me, I think I'd be a little irritated. You know, "STFU NOOB" and all that. I know Bobby Threesticks is trying to be a good citizen and all, but...probably would've been better as a rookie just to say "good game, I'm a big fan" or something to that effect.

Dallas has Murray which is a franchise RB as much as a RB can be a franchise RB in today's NFL (3 years max is the norm). Problem for Dallas is a bad OL and DL and no depth after injuries at ILB and safeties. Sunday Dallas had 7 guys (or more) including 2 starters that were not on any roster (not even practice team) when the season started. That means that the defense has to be very basic because players just aren't used to playing with each other or have the experience to play in the NFL.

Romo is Favre lite and he will have his bad moments and his good ones and can win a SB just like Favre did but he's not the type of QB to carry the team for a whole season and into the playoffs. He needs a stronger cast around him and this year just proved how terrible Jerry Jones is as a GM once again.

Another bad thing about finishing 8-8 and having all those injuries is that it saved Garrett as a HC and he's just not the guy for that position.

No.  Collinsworth has had color sucktitude wrapped up since he first got a gig years ago.  Theismann's retirement permanently sealed it.  I never thought I'd miss Frank Gifford, but I do these days.

The four-letter network got rid of Jaws who wasn't a great QB, but he's a hell of a color guy.  Yet Collinsworth, Gruden, and Aikman continue working.  Something is not right with the world.

I would understand if they wanted to look for their Colin Kaepernick (sp? too lazy to look it up). You know a guy who sits for a couple years and then has a chance to tear it up if Romo gets injured/wins the Jake in the 1st quarter.

Hey, Jerry, I have a great idea. Call the Jets front office and offer to trade them Romo for Tebow. But if you do that, you're going to have to invest in some grief counseling for Orton.

There are maybe 3 QBs in the league who can carry a team. Probably only 2, Brady and P. Manning. Blaming any QB for not being one of those guys is ridiculous (but for some reason, normal).

Murray is a schmoe. 1,560 yards in two years. Morris has 1,613 in a single season. Washington has O-line concerns too, they have overachieved on the line this year with mostly scrap.

^THIS^ ... a whole bunch of it.

There are all kinds of calls to trade or get rid of Romo around town. Even well respected reporters/writers/broadcasters are talking about it. Question is, who are they gonna get to replace him?

Romo's far from the best or even worst QB in the league. Similar to Favre was, Romo's a "gun-slinger". He'll make terrific plays & he'll also shoot himself in the foot from time to time. You take the good with the bad. He's far from the glaring problem with the team.

For once... just one fuggin' time, I'd like to see Jerrah draft nothing but O & D linemen. Ya' know? Build a team the way you're supposed to... from the line of scrimmage back. Instead, he's done just the opposite. You're doing it wrong, Jerrah. And I think a lot of Cowboy fans would like to see the real change Jerrah alluded to yesterday instead of more lip-service. True change starts at the top.

2013-01-03 02:33:31 PM
Of course RGIII is going to tell Romo he's great. He is. At losing to RGIII 0-2 so he doesn't want to see Romo go anywhere

And the Colts lose Peyton and luck right into Andrew (pun intended). Just doesn't seem fair. Unless you look at the stretch from Unitas to Manning.

Ummm...you seem to be missing the guy who has led the league in passer rating for the past two years, is the reigning MVP, has thrown 70 more TD than INT in the past two seasons, and did it this year with his No. 1 and No. 2 WRs out for large stretches of the season.

Murray is, and has always been very injury-prone. Very different from being a "schmoe". Look at his time at OU. He was injured damned near as much as he was healthy.

Morris has had an incredible season. No one in their right mind can deny that. Absolutely incredible. That said, and with Washington's OL problems that you touched on, I'd expect him to regress next season. That whole "year of tape the league will have on him" thing.
