He said the ordeal made him more religious.

"I felt like there were three angels in the room. And, interestingly, they had New York accents, probably because the last movie I'd seen was on Channel 11, was the original 'Ocean's 11,'" he said.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk speaks about his recovery from a major stroke a year ago at his home in Highland Park, Ill.
Kirk told the Chicago Daily Herald the angels asked him: "You want to come with us?"

He replied: "No, I'll hold off."

"They say there are no atheists in foxholes, and this stroke put me into a very deep foxhole," he told the newspaper.

Angels? Yeah, the word he's looking for is DOCTORS. The doctors who saved your life should be getting the credit, not some hallucinations your swollen brain coughed up and you idiotically are ascribing supernatural origins to while simultaneously admitting you know it was a dream.

sxacho: Klivian: Angels in the Occipital Lobe?

Something something Pinheads and Patriots

You're trying to trick me, but I know the truth.  The Angels are in Anaheim, the Patriots are in Boston, and the Pinheads are in Congress.

As someone who had a stroke similar to Kirk's, though thankfully less devastating,I can say to him: congratulations on your journey so far and Godspeed in your further recovery.

As someone who had a stroke similar to Kirk's, but without platinum-plated public ally funded insurance, I can say to him: fark you for needing to have a major brain injury, permanent motor problems, and a year in rehab in order to understand the need for better heath care in this country.

Oh, and an extra fark you for still being against 'Obamacare.'

So he got more religious as his brain began to shut down.

Makes sense.

Magorn: I know Sen Kirk says he knows this was a dream, but isn't it time for us to have and equivalent of the 25th Amendment for Senators and Congressmen?  This is the second one from IL who is a poster-child for the obvious need for one.

Agreed - same with Giffords. Also, as I've unfortunately seen first hand, strokes - even TIAs - change people in significant ways. It very well may not be quite the same person you elected, and usually for the worse...

Dude he's from Illinois. Let's just be glad he's not headed to a Federal PMITA prison and leave it at that.

And lo, the angel Feldstein spoke unto me, and he rendered a bill charging an ICD code which my insurance company mis-keyed as a hysterectomy; whereupon the voice of Yahweh saith: "Dr. Nguyen, please call admitting, Dr. Nguyen, admitting". And the voice was terminated with two clicks, ramen.
