Jument: It's unclear what the girls did online.Porn. Duh.
tuxq: That's it, we need to ban sleeping pills
The One True TheDavid: tuxq:That's it, we need to ban sleeping pills. No, we need to ban teenage girls.
Ksilebo: My method was installing a keylogger on the family computer. Still one of our favorite family stories.
Rhypskallion: So, the parents are really controlling. The kids learn to be really 'drug your food' controlling. The parents involve the police (this is throwing away your parenting rights).
grinding_journalist: Ksilebo: My method was installing a keylogger on the family computer. Still one of our favorite family stories.Been discussing it with folks since I have a kid on the way; the best solution I've come up with is:1. Rotating PW for house wifi.2. Tell the kids that they can search for what they want, but I'll have monitoring software that tells me. If they get into things that they shouldn't, there will be consequences. Have to make them accountable for their own farkups.3. Acknowledge that my kids will probably be smarter than me, and figure out ways around said restrictions.
worlddan: Rhypskallion: So, the parents are really controlling. The kids learn to be really 'drug your food' controlling. The parents involve the police (this is throwing away your parenting rights).This.What kind of parent is it that thinks, "I fell alseep a little early last night....man oh man...my kids much have drugged me!" I don't think any of them understand the concept of deescalation.
Atharaenea: They called the cops on them? On one hand, if these 2 were regularly out of control, that might be the right reaction. But if they're just normal teenagers, seems like a bit of overkill. Of course, I'm assuming they drugged them with Lunesta or something similar.

Uniquely Common: You can tell the difference in between getting sleepy and being put to sleep via medication. With some drugs, such as lunesta and ambien you'll actually feel "drunk" have blurred vision, hallucinations, slurred speech etc if you aren't actively attempting to go to sleep. It's not like in the movies, you don't just slump over in your chair and wake up 8 hrs later.
