I think Chuck Cunningham was gay.

Seriously... he disappeared upstairs, and was never seen again. In fact, Howard Cunningham disowned his son so thoroughly, he once stood up in court and said, under oath, that he only had two children.

I bet Chuck ran off with the black drummer Richie and Potsie had in their band that one time, explaining why we never saw ether of them again. Plus, the interracial homosexuality was so distasteful to Mr. C, Well, he completely refused to recognize he had a third child.

Rose McGowan Loveslave: I have no issues with gay marriage or letting them adopt. does not affect me so I live and let live. (BTW I am not proud of this. I should be more out spoken about these issues but I fear the consequences. Please forgive me)

But I will shoot the first person that says the word "gaybies" in front of me.

Is that "gaybies" instead of "babies"
Or "gaybies" instead of "rabies"

Tune in for "Gay or Just British?"! It's the exciting new game show that stumps the experts!

I can't wait for the inferior American adaptation: "Gay Or Just Southern?"

Uncle Arthur gave me hope as a scared little gay boy. He was so obviously flaming, and yet he was completely accepted by his family and beloved by his niece. I was convinced I would one day lose my family and be hated by them forever when I eventually came out, so it was reassuring to see an example of a gay man who still had his family's respect and love.

Plus, he was an uber-powerful Warlock who pushed-around the uptight anti-magic Darren and teased him mercilessly. Most of the humour of Bewtiched came from watching the conservative priggish Darren being befuddled by his more powerful and intelligent wife, and it was the same with Uncle Arthur - a witty gay man in a position of power above a weaker straight guy was just not something you saw on tv.

Actually, I'm not sure it's a dynamic you see on television today, come to think of it. Bewitched was pretty subversive for it's time.

/I just watched a Bewitched marathon on New Year's Day. I hadn't seen it in decades - it was awesome. I'm going to order the dvd sets now.

We're not supposed to care right? I mean thats what we keep being told and yet we have to celebrate it everytime someone comes out.

I'm with you on this. Be gay...I'm fine with that, but why is it such a big deal these days? Seems a little insecure to me at this point.

/Straight or gay, doesn't matter...I still ain't gettin' any! :)

It's the first decade in modern history where someone can be openly gay (to the point of it being reflected in popular culture and media) without it being something that is taboo, hidden, attacked, or apologized for. There are some stigmas to get through, but a tipping point has been reached. I think it more of a celebration, not really a forceful "big deal". It's an area of media that couldn't be developed until recently, and now it's open. There's going to be lots of attempts to capitalize on the market and develop it before it becomes fully integrated into the mainstream. It'll carry for a while as the political fight continues.
