Florida has been very weak this year. They got outplayed by University of Louisiana at Lafayette and should have lost. They beat LSU in Mettenberger's first SEC start at QB. Florida has been stumbling up the polls all year and should never have been ranked so high in the polls.

Fla and LSU made the same mistake. They took a slightly lesser opponent too lightly and let them get the better of them.

In short SEC arrogance trumped SEC Speed.

Glorious win for my Cards. Put the foot on the gas from the opening play and never looked back. Florida looked slow all night, like they were anticipating a different team to play against them.

Also, Kirk Herbstreit can eat a dick.

That's because SEC fans stop doing it only when SEC teams lose, and this is about another overrated SEC team getting housed by a not-very-good football team.

But they have a good chance to win the one game that their best team always gets voted into in order to play, typically, Ohio State or Oklahoma, two schools well-noted for their choking on the big stage against any and everyone.

OK, next season, football won't matter. So many cupcakes on the schedule, you'd think Ricky P. wrote it up himself. Then it's on to ACC domination...which won't mean much after UNC and/or Duke leaves.

But, like I told many of my Card fan friends recently, I do look forward to that first ACC basketball season when those fifth fouls that refs just let slide (I mean, if the parents traveled all the way from Senegal, you can't break their heart by having their son foul out, can you?) are finally acknowledged by the Refzyzewskis. Get used to the sound of a whistle.

Florida's D looked like they really didnt give a shiat. Why should I? Also, the passing game has been awful the entire year, I was not surprised to see the first pass or so be a pick 6.

2013-01-03 09:53:04 AM
On paper, Florida should have been the clear winner but I think they got out coached. The Gators played sloppy with a lot of turn overs, Louisville played smart football with long methodical drives that kept the ball for long periods of time and tired out Florida's defense. It was a beautiful game to watch from a strategy standpoint.

Louisville was better. This year pretty much everyone at the top of the rankings had big deficiencies. The SEC teams continued to move up the polls because everyone else kept screwing up as well. Overall it was a down quality year for college football and for the SEC in particular. I've been an LSU fan since 1983 and I watched the SEC outpower everyone else for years. Not this year, however. Florida should never have been ranked above 10, but there was no one else who had it together either.

It looked like the Florida D gave a pretty big shiat with the late hits, helmet-to-helmet hits, and legal hard hits all night. They just thought that hitting UofL hard would be enough to make them cower in the corner and hand over the football. Didn't work.

So true. Florida was throwing punches and leading with their helmets, but Louisville players were helping the Florida players up after plays. Total class act and a credit to the coaches.

I love the trend on the internet of ignoring arguments by claiming the person who disagrees with you is a victim of pedophilia. Really intellectually sound, not to mention classy.

I'm a diehard Florida State guy. I find most Gator fans to be obnoxious as shiat and I'm glad I won't have to hear about this win for the next year. Little USC got hosed in that game, most people would agree.

I think most rational SEC fans realized Florida's #3 ranking was far loftier than their true strength and they managed to get lucky with some teams utterly self-destructing against them (Tennessee, South Carolina, for example).  Most people expected Florida to have four or five losses this year, and they easily could have.  And, I am an unabashed SEC homer, but Florida losing to just about anyone gives me the warm fuzzies.  You won't find too many SEC fans crying for poor, poor Florida this morning.
