DoomsDayAardvark: Well, photobucket is trying to forcibly upgrade me to their new inferior version again.  I'll try it for a little bit, but there's a distinct possibility that I'll be looking for a new image host soon.  New version is total lamesauce.

PB forced me over last weekend (and I can't get the old version back, I think they only let you opt out a limited number of times) and while I agree that on the whole, it is not an improvement, there are a few changes I actually like. Also, they seem to actually be listening to user's complaints, as things have been changing day to day.

At least you can go back to using the HTML buttons, unlike photobucket that is ramming their changes down our collective throats.

Pros:  Does not use flash.  Seems like it might be a tad faster to get around in (see "does not use flash.").  Decent non-eye-bleedy appearance.

Cons:  No "Upload from web" feature (which was, honestly, the main thing I used).  More clickiness required to get the damn direct link (Used to be hover -> mouse -> click, now it's hover over smaller target -> mouse -> click -> mouse -> click).  Keeps irritating me with a tour of new features (it's done this three times in the last 20 minutes, hopefully that's the last one).  Seems to have lost track of its job (Seriously, I want it to store my pics.  I don't need flippin' social network crap on every damn site I use.  I don't need photobucket friends, I don't want to follow other people's albums, etc.  I can't even imagine what "stories" are supposed to be).  No way to jump to the end of the album.  You  have to scroll now.  I've got 800 pics in that album, which probably isn't even a lot, and it just took me 5 minutes to get to the end of it.  It used to take 5 seconds.  When I'm at the bottom of it, I can't get the link to the album anymore.  I have to scroll back up to get to it.  Minor quibble that most people won't notice, but it's doing some things in javascript that aren't kosher, and it's 521 errors since I made my initial post in this thread (take that, fark filter).

Can sympathise with the foto fixin' places new changes & demands.  Tinypic did that to me months ago; major thing they did was to not allow me to re-size fotos any more. Unable to deal with that. Had been watching for who used what, how it worked for them. Based on that, chose imgur, which still bills itself as the simple image sharer. Took some de facto hints from in2it. Then they recently Made Changes, after I'd suggested imgur to lilyspad as a possibility. We both have trubble with it occasionally, are lucky it's not 99.44% of the time.
Have some more electromagic pasting to do. When I began, I literally cut & pasted with scissors & either white school paste or liquid glue equivalent (elmer's). Am pleased not to have to do that any more.

Honestly, I wouldn't know.  I don't really use those features.  I barely need any features at all from it.  All I really want is a way to throw some images someplace without a tiny bandwidth cap and find them again later.  All the extra goodies are lost on me, I'm afraid.

Photobucket was easy with it's posting from the web. I don't need or want Facebook or Twitter. I'm not wild about the new page set up either. I'm not real keen on imgur so I'm still looking for another place and complaining to PB about the web posting. The changes to Fark I'm learning to deal with.

Happy New Year and let's see how we can screw everyone over with major changes to their online accounts

My curiosity got the better of me, so I took a look at the "stories" (ridiculous patent pending -- for realsies) thing.  It appears that they've created a way to make online scrapbooks.  Which is kinda cool, I guess, but not something I was clamoring for.  Uploading from another site (that  isn't facebook) is a feature I used frequently.  Hit roflbot, make caption, send to photobucket.  See image posted by fellow farker that I liked?  Right click, snag url, pop into mah bucket, done.  Seamless and easy.  Now I've gotta save the damn thing on my own hard drive first.

The Fark changes I'm totally on board with.  Those are things that have enhanced my experience here, if only slightly.  (Though it helps that I've used cke in my own projects for work, back when it was called farkeditor).

Anyway, enough of this foolishness.

MOAR CATS!

DoomsDayAardvark: sherpa18: Cons:  No "Upload from web" feature (which was, honestly, the main thing I used).

OK, I can understand that, then again, I have always used the PB uploader extension in FF, so NBD for me.
More clickiness required to get the damn direct link (Used to be hover -> mouse -> click, now it's hover over smaller target -> mouse -> click -> mouse -> click). Agreed.
Keeps irritating me with a tour of new features (it's done this three times in the last 20 minutes, hopefully that's the last one).
Yeah, I found the easiest way to get rid of that is to take the tour (3 short clicks that really don't tell you shiat)
Seems to have lost track of its job (Seriously, I want it to store my pics.  I don't need flippin' social network crap on every damn site I use.  I don't need photobucket friends, I don't want to follow other people's albums, etc.  I can't even imagine what "stories" are supposed to be). Never been bothered with that.
THIS. Although the scrolling seems to take less time than jumping to a new page and waiting for the pics and facebook and twitter and other misc crap to load, I think it's actually a bit faster. But yeah, I have an album with 2400+ pics, no way do I want to have to scroll my way through to the end of that.
However, I do like the fact that all of your sub-albums are now available no matter which album you are viewing. And... well, actually now that I think about it, pretty much nothing else is an improvement.
