Vaneshi: Jesus where the hell is the Microsoft of the 90's?
Vaneshi: wax_on: Remember, it's not illegal to have a monopoly, it's only illegal to abuse it. How is Google abusing it's monopoly again? Secret APIs? Breaking their software so that it's not compatible with third party vendor's software? Telling it's licensees that they can't distribute other vendor's software? Huh MS? What was it?Does Google have a monopoly? That is the question. Monopoly doesn't mean largest or most popular, it means the only thing you can do is use them. Google don't have a monopoly IMHO, people are free to upload their content to any of the other popular systems; even those using Google's Android powered devices. Also, Microsoft... suck it up and stop crying like little biatches. Jesus where the hell is the Microsoft of the 90's? I mean sure they were an actual monopoly and abused the shiat out of it but at least they had the balls to do it and tell everyone else to EABOD. Now they're whiner than an emo kid who's out of black mascara.
Marine1: The monopoly (at least in terms of one that Google certifiably has) would be YouTube.
rosebud_the_sled: From the way I read it:Microsoft: "Wahhh, wahhh! Google got to a technology first and we have done everything we possibly can to destroy it - except make a good competitive product - and we can't buy them. Wah wah!!! Government, please kill them."Given Google's record of caving to the Chinese, they aren't angels either, but given Microsoft track record - FU Microsoft.
Vaneshi: Marine1: The monopoly (at least in terms of one that Google certifiably has) would be YouTube.Viddler, Vemo and such disprove your statement. YouTube is the largest such site yes but biggest doesn't equal monopoly. Are Google actively seeking to lock out these competing sites? No, in fact the are indexed and searchable though Google themselves (the video search). So no. It's not a monopoly. And if wishes were horses all the little girls would have ponies.
