BizarreMan: Meat Loaf has a tribute act?

People PAY to see a Meat Loaf tribute act?

Well, considering that he had some awesome songs but can't sing a damn why more, I'd be more likely to see the tribute act than the real thing.

/ Meat Loaf concert in the 90s was my third favorite concert. Dude went all out.

Flakeloaf: The Muthaship: Apparently, Meatloaf is kind of a dick. I've never heard a kind word about him as a person.

Came expecting this, read TFA, now very barely on Meat's side. Tribute guy jacked his word mark, used copyrighted album art to promote his act and is squatting on a trademarked domain name. Fark him.

Yeah, I have no real sympathy for the guy in the article. But, everything I've ever read about Meatloaf other than his singing (and apparently coaching women's softball for some strange reason) has centered around him being an asshole.

This should have been an easily handled problem.

www.meatloaf.org will find you...

I don't think anyone should have copyright license over generic food terms.  (Except, of course, Apple)

SurfaceTension: dickfreckle: Don't forget Jim Steinman (everyone does). He's the one who actually wrote the thing.

Hasn't Jim Steinman written like half the pop hits for the last 40 years or something ridiculous like that?

/slightly exaggerating

Not really. But he did create four really great songs. It's just that he has written the book on musical recycling since then. Entire projects have been cut and paste for decades. He is also the single weirdest guy in show business but a godamm savant when it comes to marketing. Although health problems have slowed him down over the past few years.

But there is one thing you can count on and that is he reads absolutely, positively every single thing written about him that is posted to the Internet. So say hello because there is zero chance he will miss this thread.

Hello Jim.

What a dickhead. He's like some charlatan-stalker guy, not a tribute act.

The art and style of 'Meat Loaf' he's simply lifted wholsesale for his advertising van. The act itself would have been alright if he called himself 'Meet Loaf' or some shiat like that. He looks fark-all like the real thing and looks more parody than actual thievery so could have gotten away with it. But no, he has to be all obvious about it and go all www on Meat's fat ass. Idiot.

I didn't know you could sue tribute acts. Is that just a British thing?

I'm surprised Axel Rose hasn't sued Appetite for Destruction for being a better GNR than is current lineup.

I don't care what anyone says, the original Bat Out of Hell is a fantastic album. The rest of Meat Loaf, yeah, not so much.

Don't forget Jim Steinman (everyone does). He's the one who actually wrote the thing. Meat Loaf just lent his voice to the effort. Granted, it's a great voice.

/has played a piano Steinman used to own, or so the owners claimed. They actually seemed legit, and not in the sarcastic way.

FTA: "Multi-millionaire Bat Out Of Hell singer Meat Loaf - real name Michael Aday - sued Dean in a California court after he refused to give up the domain name www.MeatLoaf.org."

Too bad he didn't get to keep his site. I'd use it to post the most obnoxious, obscene and outrageous Meat Loaf "parody" crap I could invent.

Seriously, why does a *snicker* celebrity *giggle* like Meat Loaf have to act like raging prick over something like this? That fat, washed up has-been ought to be glad someone out there liked his crappy music enough to actually do a tribute act. What a complete jerk.
