Elsewhere in its IRS filing, which was made in September, Americans for Responsible Leadership said that 50 percent of its resources would go toward to educating the public and "promoting a more ethical and transparent government"

A SuperPAC advocating for transparency?

The organization, Americans for Responsible Leadership

Do these people PURPOSELY choose ironic names, or is it just the luck of the draw?

Best part is them telling ProPublica they will report them for reporting the story

*Sigh* Someday.

Indeed the lobby for it gets stronger day by day.

I'm sure that what they did will end up being either completely legal or ignored, after all these people have millions of dollars and can't be expected to play by the rules of the lower classes.

This will just keep happening until people start to go to jail.

FTA: All of the groups (which include: Freedom Path, Rightchange.com II, America Is Not Stupid, and A Better America Now) checked "no" in response to the following question: "Has the organization spent or does it plan to spend any money attempting to influence the selection, nomination, election, or appointment of any person to any Federal, state, or local public office or to an office in a political organization?"

Well, at this point, nobody's on track for jail - but these clowns may have to pay some taxes.

ProTip: when your group is named "America Is Not Stupid" it would behoove you not to do anything stupid if you wish to be taken seriously.

They wanted to go with "America Is Not Stupid But We Are!" but that was too long for the bumper sticker.

I'm sure the IRS will be all over this after they get done with the "churches" that are openly political.

They need to counteract the effects of acorn, even if it means breaking the law.

2013-01-02 07:14:05 PM
So what? Nothing will come of it.

Don't get me wrong, I would very VERY much like something to happen, but it won't. Just like they won't go after churches who intentionally flouted the rules regarding their tax exempt status and publicly endorsed candidates. Just like how they won't go after folks could run a superPAC and also meet regularly with the candidate that superPAC was spending millions on behalf of and hire campaign insiders from. Just like the FBI wouldn't go after any of the jackholes behind the mess at Countrywide or some of the illegal shenanigans on Wall Street. Etc. etc. etc....

Rules aren't for people who contribute millions to political campaigns and have political connections, just for us little people. This is America where you get the justice you can afford.

These organizations were applying to be tax exempt. I'm guessing the IRS will say...no.

I'm glad they're following the money with these groups, but there are other supposedly non-political organizations besides America Is Not Stupid that are still flying under the radar. I've compiled a list of other groups that should be looked into:

Americans For A Republican Winning
You're The One That's Stupid, Inc.
Obama Is Too A Communist, So There
Hey No Fair I'm Telling, Inc.
The Coalition For Eagle Freedom Jesus America Forever Right Now
I Know You Are But What Am I, LLC

Democrats Are Dumb And Mean And I Hate Them
I Will Definitely Give Money To Get Republicans Elected, Inc.

how does anybody need to lie to the IRS about spending activities with all the easy underhanded ways to throw it around with the Super-PACS et al.. Didn't they watch the Colbert report?

The IRS won't do shiat. They'll probably send them a Christmas card saying "good job, guys! You scammed us hard and we're going to continue looking the other way and let you continue making a mockery of our organization."

The beauty of American: you can commit any and every kind of election fraud you want in this country and they'll never come after you. Case in point.
