FTFA: " recording her reactions can lead to comedic gold."

Yeah...not so much. That wasn't even remotely funny.

It'd be funnier if anyone knew your mother more then they knew your mother.

Dark Souls II "because we saw how popular Skyrim was"

Why do video games do trailers? They're never anything like the actual gameplay, they're not previewing anything.

Imagining an old lady voice makes it funny enough.

This would have been 100% better if you'd actually RECORDED what your mom said instead of writing it down.

Wait a minute - a South Park RPG? Made by the same people that did New Vegas and KOTOR?
Just go ahead, crack my skull with a beer bottle and take my wallet already.

If it isn't a confused elderly Jewish lady decrying violence and t&a, there's no point. Bonus points would have been given if said lady referred to all characters as Mario.

That would have required it not to be completely made up.

i'd keep a grain of salt handy, THQ is supposed to be publishing and nobody is even sure the lights will be on over there by the timeframe this game is supposed to ship. and obsiddion always has delays and major bug issues even when they have a solvent studio paying their bills.

I'll hold out hope as long as it doesn't get connected to UbiSuck.

Because sometimes they're freakin awesome.

That would be cool if it was a movie, but it tells me nothing about that game. I'm not familiar with it at all, and after watching a 2.5 min trailer, I still don't know a thing about it.

Because the VAST majority of people that buy video games are easily impressed by shiny things. And the kind of people that would watch video game trailers are DEFINITELY in that category.

Hey now, the trailers for GTA V are farking awesome. I have no clue whether the game will be any good, but Rockstar can do trailers extremely well. Better than Hollywood.

Agreed. Plus, their trailers are actual gameplay mixed with the actual cut scenes.

Hey, I'm the writer. Thanks for assuming I'm a liar, but this was a real conversation. I wrote it out because I think it's funnier that way, and you don't have to listen to a lot of pauses as she just watches a trailer. I can see how some would think it would be better to hear her, though. I might do a video version some day.

Comedy Fluorine, at best.

Who cares about any of these games? Just release Bioshock Infinite bug-free and completely awesome.

Hello Writter. I agree, this could be comedy gold if you actually included the audio. Pauses and all.
I'm guessing hearing the indignation and confusion in her voice will add something to it. As it is, there is a lot of tl;dnr

Maybe also find a few good game play videos of a few of the overly violent games and see how she likes that. (i.e., her reaction to Call of Duty airport scene may scar her for life, but prove to be funny).

I dunno, I'm just hoping that with the lower-difficulty setting added that they'll change the tagline to "You might die. Maybe."

It will be awesome despite being terribly buggy. Obsidian games are like that.

I make my mom watch snuff films. I'm going to write a blog about it as soon as I figure out the full range of onomatopoeia vocabulary.

I don't read that comic, but I'm sure I'm not the first or the last person who uses the idea of a non gamer commenting on gaming as a joke.

That's pretty much how it goes down in these threads.  I usually temper my reception and reaction depending on the prominence and status of the writer, and I don't begrudge someone for trying an experimental concept.  Taking a crap on someone's random gaming article is usually pointless.  Taking a crap on Kotaku or one of the large sites is usually much more warranted.

OGHC wasn't a non-gamer commenting on gaming as a joke. She's a serious gamer.

He hasn't posted from her in about a year, I wonder how she's doing? She was getting up there.

He was a nice guy, too. Met him at a Cleveland Fark Party.

With Trey Parker and Matt Stone having written the story and all the dialogue, I'm willing to give it the benefit of doubt, bugs and all.

In the day of digital distribution it will most certainly be released unless some sort of lawyer shenanigans are involved.

I wasn't assuming you were a liar.

It seems extremely obvious to me to overlay the recorded commentary over the video. I actually never would have thought to just put the text there considering the other, better option.

There are tons and tons of games that had/have trailers with actual gameplay in them. It isn't any worse than movies with trailers cut to make them seem like a completely different movies, comedies that literally have every single funny moment from the whole film in the trailer, or trailers that are made with tons of scenes that got cut from the movie.
