Looks like we only need wait out global warming for about 50,000 years.

I wish they had comments on that so I could read all the derp from the Fox News audience.

I'm surprised it doesn't mention the rapture.

Oh boy. I hope I'm gone by then.

Boring. Now what I really enjoy is looking at how the continents will look after more continental drift.

THIS.

I even looked for away to find the comments for a minute.

Damnit. There goes an afternoon of quality entertainment.

And 600 million years from now, maintaining complex natural life on Earth will require sustained massive release of CO2 by some means to compensate for declining volcanic activity.

Otherwise, this biosphere is past its prime already. Eukaryotic life began 2 billion years ago and it has 1.3 billion years left unless it gets off this rock.

That's a damned shame, since the only derp available, then, is the OCD Fark Liberal derp constantly whinging on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about the Fox derp. It's boring, seriously.

At least the Fox Derp occasionally varies from Official Script. But, apparently, there are few independent or original thinker in the 101st Fighting FLDB (Fark Liberal Derp Brigade).

If we havent found a way off this rock in 600 million years, we deserve to choke and die.

One would hope we are well capable of long range interstellar travel by that point.

testing inhabitants on other planets...for questions that have been answered,
then we have nothing to worry about.

1 million years is the highest estimated time until the red supergiant star Betelgeuse explodes in a supernova. The tremendous blast is expected to be easily visible in daylight.

That probably won't be as cool as I am picturing it.

And my first thought was "Well a million years aint so long and I've got maybe 50 years left - so there's like a 1/20000 chance it will happen in my life time.... which might be cool..."

notyomama: For some reason, that made me sad, even though me and mine will be long long gone.

Yeah, I found it somewhat depressing as well.

Sure I'll be dead and gone, but I thought the planet would support life nearly to the point of the Sun running up against its end-time.

Looks like it'll actually happen a couple of billion years earlier than that.

Also, in the much nearer future...

FTA : In 8 million years, the moon Phobos comes within 4,300 miles of Mars, the Roche limit, at which point tidal forces will disintegrate the moon and turn it into a ring of orbiting debris that will continue to spiral in toward the planet

/ Bummed I wont get to see the rings either

Anything can be summarized using Slayer lyrics. In this case:

"Slow death, immense decay"

2013-01-02 05:52:34 PM

whistleridge: Deslide

Although THAT isn't a bad slideshow. Each image is independent, and the descriptions are decent. The bad ones are the ones with 4 word descriptions, and repetitions of the previous slide, but from a different angle, shiat like that. At least this slideshow compartmentalizes everything.

Although, a deslide is always appreciated.

1.7×10106 years: Supermassive black holes themselves decay. Beyond this time, the universe enters the Dark Era, in which all physical objects have decayed to subatomic particles, gradually winding down to their final energy state.

AND, I'll have my student loans paid off in full...
