If there's one thing Peter King knows, it's fully supporting and then dropping support of radical groups when it suits him politically.

I'm beginning to believe this will be the official pretext for dumping Boehner as Speaker.

For a man who usually has a cock in his mouth, he sure doesn't have a Koch in his mouth.

Peter King the teabagger? WTF?

Not that I'm complaining.

I don't want to live in a world where Peter King is the voice of reason.

He was happy to have a Koch in his mouth until he realized the Koch would be coming there.

He's not alone:

Governor Christie @GovChristie

When American citizens are in need we come to their aid. That tradition was abandoned in the House last night. #SandyBill

Philip Francis Queeg: I'm beginning to believe this will be the official pretext for dumping Boehner as Speaker.

I'm beginning to think that Peter King may be running for Speaker. I suspect that bad as he is, he'd be better than Cantor.

Does he believe the Sandy money won't be coming? Does he honestly believe that?

King was my district's Rep until they re-drew the lines for the past election and I ended up in Carolyn McCarthy's district. I'm generally not a fan of King - particularly his excessive anti-Muslim bent. But every once in a while he does something I like and this is one of those times.

/voting no on Clinton's impeachment was another

Apparently it won't until Republicans get their head out of their ass. So..not anytime soon.

Huh. Maybe the Republicans are going to split like a zygote after all.

2013-01-02 12:13:02 PM
I thought that the Republican notion was that people were to be bootstrappy and not rely on the government for handouts.

Cletus C.: Does he believe the Sandy money won't be coming? Does he honestly believe that?

I believe that you believe that he doesn't believe the money is coming, and any sane person would also believe it's not coming too based on the fact that it hasn't been voted on to actually come.

//Come.

Peter King is nuts. Congress actually did NY and NJ a favor by not granting any aid, as only Real Americans deserve aid.

Why does shiat keep getting real?
Next up, the weatherman announces a hard freeze tonight as temps drop to 27 overnight... bring those plants and pets in because this shiat is about to get real!

Not part of Real America. Sorry.

Boehner and the GOP Congress has given him no reason not to believe it.

Unfortunately, the GOP base most likely won't listen to him. Instead, he'll be branded as a RINO by the conservative talking heads due to not sticking directly on party lines and will be subsequently primaried out next election cycle.

Because, ya know, reasoning isn't high up there on the list of GOP values.

Especially since NJ and NY are considered "blue" / Democratic / Liberal states. Mr. King, you're an asshole in general and you caucus with assholes. You shouldn't be surprised.

Giving money for disaster aid is COMMUNIST and TERRIBLE!

Except when it happens to my state.

fark you Peter King.

As someone from the area, I would be stunned if he's ever primaried out. He's had that seat for 20 years and wins it handily every time. Opponents barely even try. Plus I wouldn't describe my area as a Tea Party hotbed.

Normally, I'd agree, but if NY and NJ stick to his word, this really does have interesting implications.

Peter King (R-NY): "Within 10 days after Katrina, $60 billion was appropriated. 9 weeks after Sandy, not one penny has been appropriated."

You can see why he's pessimistic.

People in New Jersey already have enough money. What Congress should really do is raise taxes on all residents of New Jersey, as retaliation for voting for a non-American for President.

Do you believe this congress will pass anything without a ridiculous amount of squeaky wheels calling for the grease?

What part of ANYTHING they've done in the past two years suggests they could take action for the good of the nation on their own? Was it the debt ceiling, this recent fiscal cliff fiasco, what?

I'm serious, I'd like to see you make your case.

Uh, not gonna happen. Even downstate Republicans in NY are more right-of-center leaning (or at least Reagan-era Repubs), any mention of a TP candidate automatically moves that seat to the Dems. Look at NY-23 as a prime example.

Legislating would be a distraction from the House's primary mission of posturing and grandstanding.
