Relatively Obscure: Is this that study that everyone in the universe is calling trash except the author and a few newspapers?

Yep.

randomjsa: The person who figured out tectonic plates was laughed at and ridiculed for it until the day he died.

And in every generation, for every historical discovery, there are countless -- hundreds, if not thousands -- of claims that deserve all the ridicule they get before getting tossed into history's dustbin.

Considering this study used people who were losing weight due to illness (including addictions) to fill out the "thin" category, I'm guessing this is one for the dustbin.

There was a doctor who suggested medical students should wash their hands after handling dead bodies before going to help deliver babies because he noticed certain "correlations", and he was basically thrown out for suggesting it.

Then there was this guy who suggested spontaneous generation was bogus and all the smartest people in the world said he was a fool.

Now, what were you saying? This study may very well be bad but at least give it time to be proven such.

There's a difference between a few extra pounds and having your picture on the wall of fame at Krispy Kreme, fatass.
