T.rex: Many of you seemed to be trained now like Pavlov's dogs to scoff at any study that correlates autism to something.

So you think it's nothing to do with the advancements in understanding the syndrome, advancements in awareness of the signs of autism, leading to earlier and more frequent diagnosis? Nooooooooo we have to blame something, otherwise who can we sue? AMARYTE?

After breast/testicular cancer awareness promotions, the level of diagnosed cases took a sharp incline, just like the one shown on the graph in TFA. (on the same time scale, no less)

OMFG ORGANIC FOOD CAUSES MY BALLS TO GET CANCERS more on FOXNEWSDERP after these messages from Monsanto....

understand?

namegoeshere: sxacho: And what? My wife just woke up angry from a nap with our child who never ever sleeps. And she cannot sleep with me because I snore sometimes but when I don't snore she stays up worrying about weather or not I'm going to snore or about the money or about some other such other such such stupid thing. Mental illness sucks. It sucks to live it and to live with it. Blame me for loving my wife. I'll get all itg on you.

I would sponsor you so you could discuss this in TFD but alas, I am a charity case myself. I think the "And?" was not meant to belittle your struggle but to ask how it relates to organic food and/or autism.

As a fellow small, small business owner also going through it a bit at the moment, I wish you better things in 2013. Cheers!

I'll do it on your behalf

Yes.... you make a point... but even breast and testicular cancer are caused by something. At least thats what i believe. The human body isn't designed to have flaws that suddenly appear.. Medical conditions arise because of something that went awry somewhere. We might not know what it is, it might not be the same cause for everyone, but there is going to be be a cause somewhere down the line.

uttertosh: T.rex: How does 'awareness and understanding' have anything to do with the choice to buy organic food? People assume the word organic implies 'more healthy'. it does not... Its genetically modified. Its actually less 'natural' than something that grew normally.

You mean that YOU assume this. This assumption is correct when it comes to dairy, but this is missing the point entirely. Here in Sweden the term is Ecological. The term refers to the way farming is conducted, and has more to do with how healthy the environment is, than how healthy the produce will make the consumer - how well the farmer treats the land, livestock, and all the surrounding benefits to nature as benefit.

In the shortest explanation I can muster, Ecologically farmed produce generally takes more care and attention from the farmers, to ensure quality is maintained.

read more science.

From my own personal growing experience, everything I grow organically has much more flavour than the mass-farmed veg our restaurant bought in from standard suppliers, and as I'm growing it locally, the cost is next to nothing and the carbon footprint is minimal (0)

Taking ones hard earned money away from environment-destroying mega-farm-corps is ones civic duty. You probably already recycle, use energy efficient light bulbs, etc. Why the hell aren't you being environmentally responsible enough to change to ecologically sound means of food production? Oh, yeah FOXNEWSDERP told you so, That's why.

I hope I have made you more aware of why Organic produce is the way of the future. The understanding I can play no role in. That's up to you.

jaspyrnyte: So uh Utter, Sxacho & Namegoeshere..you guys have a better new year, k?

Thanks! I wish the same to you! :-)

I thank you for the information, and i'll gather that you are likely more educated on the topic as me... My overall point is that genetically modified food, while perhaps cutting out certain harmful processes and more cost effective, might have results upon the human body which are unknown and unexpected.... Its too early in the game to know... Maybe it takes 20 years for side effects to reveal itself.

In the end, organic food is not some god-send... Its a business. it exists to make money... People behind that money machine are not going to be forthcoming with any negative news, even if they had bothered to study it in the first place, which is doubtful.

I'm not saying organic food is bad, nor am i saying its good. I'm saying its a conversation that should be continually taking place over the course of decades.
