As much as I like blaming Cundiff for missing a shot that is essentially all he gets paid to do, the blame at least partially goes to Harbaugh for grossly mismanaging the clock and forcing Cundiff to rush onto the field without his normal prep time.

Who knows, maybe John called in a favor from Jim because he felt sorry for poor Billy.

Would be funny if Akers got signed, then misses a FG that costs the 49ers.  It'd be Harbaughriffic!

Um, no, subby. A successful field goal would have only sent the game into overtime.

It's common for people to forget just a few plays earlier when Joe Flacco threw a beautiful pass to Lee Evans in the endzone which Evans, for some reason, decided not to secure at all, and had it knocked out by a Pats defender. Now THAT would have won the game and sent the Ravens to the Super Bowl.

That being said, Cundiff has had no distance for 3 years. He can't hit 50+ yard field goals with anything other than a hope and a prayer.

//It would sting a lot more if not for Tucker in week 3 and the rest of the season.

Cundiff was awful for the Redskins.  he is mentally shot.  no way he makes a clutch FG in a playoff game.

Poor Akers. The only kicker I've ever seen taken #1 in a FFL draft.

Akers needs to go. He went from tying the NFL record at the beginning of the season to blowing kicks that Pop Warner kids make on a regular basis.

So was Suisham, and he's almost average for the Steelers

Akers had a pelvis injury. Niners need two kickers now. This is a good thing.

Lee Evans cost the Ravens a super bowl appearance, not Cundiff.

How did Cundiff get the job with Neil Rackers still being a free agent?

As a Redskins fan, my team already learned their lesson about this guy earlier this season. I'm hoping he might help the Redskins win a playoff game nonethless.

The one thing that worries me about Kai Forbath is his short kickoffs. I don't think he got a single touchback against the Cowboys.

Surely that won't be a problem against one of the best kick returners in NFL history.

Maybe Jim Harbaugh is trying to send Akers a message. "We'll even consider Billy Farking Cundiff if you don't shape up". Maybe it's a motivational ploy; enough to scare, not enough to shell shock?

/not exactly Kaepernick v Smith here
