To be fair the full quote includes the caveat: "... the way this series has." So, it's really not that big a compliment as Prof. Fanfic might have hoped.

For all of the talk this book has raised, I still haven't heard what is so revolutionary about it. There have been dozens and dozens of books and movies and even TV that have covered this subject better.

This stupid book has exposed a very vanilla idea of BDSM to the mainstream, the only way I see it effecting this culture is a lot of soccer moms having unexplained injuries in the ER.

I liken it to the people who get gauges in their ears and don't inform themselves of the history, practice or maintence of it.
