Damn you Obama! How dare you force Republicans to vote to keep taxes low!

It's as if he was biting back the word "uppity".

How dare Obama get all uppity and even deign to speak to Congress without being spoken to first?...He should remember his place.

Obama was super mean to Romney in the debates too!

FTFA: I found it astonishing. Here he is -- coming out to speak to the nation at a crucial moment -- in very delicate negotiations and he comes out there with incredible arrogance. He ridicules the Congress, he spikes the football on the Republicans. He rubs in the fact that they were resisting a raise in rates and he made them do it. And of course, as always, he places himself hovering benignly at an Olympian level above the fray, where the children are playing in the sand box and he's asking that everybody be reasonable as if he just arrived in Washington on a tourist visa.

Translation from Derpistani to English: "UPPITY NI-*bong*! UPPITY NI-*bong*!"

Obama made the GOP resist raising taxes on the wealthiest 2%

And then he had the NERVE to tell their secret publicly instead of testifying about Bengazi. We will you tell the truth about Bengazi!

Maybe it's time I stopped reading so many political blogs. My first thought was that "tourist visa" was for the birthers, which on second thought was reading way too much into it.

FTFA: He rubs in the fact that they were resisting a raise in rates and he made them do it.

How has he made them do anything? It's like the Republicans honestly don't know why the American people are going to blame them for their taxes going up, because somehow Obama forced them to not negotiate by not caving on their demands.

I think he would be much happier if he just owned up and dropped the "N" Bomb.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to... suffering.

And since FoxNews = fear, basically we can assume that all suffering in the United States is attributable to Fox News.

Yeah, sounds about right.

I love the extremely subtle reference to the birtherism by the Sauerkraut Hammer. Why couldn't Obama just be someone visiting Washington for the first time? Why do you have to add that he would have a tourist visa?

Krauthammer is a piece of farking garbage.

I'm not even sure if he's human.

The Boner and the house should tell the president that they'll vote on the tax portion and the cut at the same time. So mr. president you better get your spending cuts lined up at the chopping block, we're ready to vote and you're slowing everything down.

Obama MADE them biatch about raising the debt ceiling in 2011 which lead to the fiscal cliff. Even if Obama isn't doing anything this moment to twist the arms of the GOP, you can bet your ass that somewhere in history he did something so "obamanable" that even his father wouldn't stick around, and that includes being born.

His basic argument is that Obama should be making major concessions "just because." Never mind the election results.

Good luck with that, Boehner couldn't even pass HIS OWN version of that.

coeyagi: "obamanable"

Oh, I like that.

Well, the thing that has aggravated me about this whole thing was that the Senate and House didn't start getting serious until Joe Biden got involved. It feels like the republicans refuse to do anything to even acknowledge Obama's power.

WE KNOW!!!! HE'S BLAH!

/The lack of respect the republicans show the President is absolutely disgusting.

You libtards seem to forget that the American people elected John Boehner Speaker of the House, so the Republicans have a mandate... study it out.

Your getting your GOP lies confused. He is referring to Obama being on vacation all the time. Of course Bush was on vacation 32% of his presidency while overseeing 2 wars and driving the economy into the toilet...but Obama went and had dinner with his family when the GOP had nothing to add to negotiations...so he is fiddling while Rome burns

You may be right. It might simply be that they waited until the last possible minute, and were only then pushed to make some kind of deal by their own constituencies (like the defense industry).

nmrsnr: Good luck with that, Boehner couldn't even pass HIS OWN version of that.

Actually, Boehner's "Plan B" included zero cuts. Literally, his Plan B was actually worse off for the Republicans in terms of spending cuts than the Grand Bargain Obama was negotiating. The only thing Plan B was supposed to address was tax rates - i.e. letting all tax rates remain the same except on income over $1 million dollars.

And in that end, he couldn't even get that through his caucus. He literally made his own caucus come out in favor of refusing to even raise rates on income greater than $1 million.

Like I said in another thread (and others before me may or may not have pointed out):

Many people get paralyzed by diving head-first into shallow swimming pools, regardless of the presence or absence of "No Diving" signs. Most of those (not incredibly bright) people are at least smart enough to check that there's water in the pool before diving in.

Charles Krauthammer is not most people.
