Ultravox?  Killing Joke?

More like 1981.

I heard that Rihanna and Chris Brown are doing a duet together of Michael Jackson's Just Beat It.

I can vouch for both the Dead Can Dance and Pet Shop Boys albums. But WTF is up with nearly every album on the list being from bands that I grew up with? Don't you people listen to new artists? There's tons of them out there, and more easily accessible than ever. It's a great time to be a music fan.

Vince Clark is still alive?

I have heard of Pet Shop Boys and Killing Joke, and Killing Joke only because Millenium was in the soundtrack for The Bigs.

2012-12-31 05:24:13 PM
No, but it's (mostly) crap that's just as bad.

2012-12-31 05:28:09 PM
Holy crap, Killing Joke is still around? Or are they living off of the royalties from Nirvana ripping them off still?

2012-12-31 05:33:31 PM
Right on.  Good stuff.

Lou Barlow can fart into a microphone for an hour and I would listen to it. One of my favorite song writers, pure genius.

I have to say I checked out some of his other songs on youtube, left feeling with a "Phil Collins if he hadn't gotten old and a little lame" vibe from him.

I want to do dirty things to Kimbra.

And why are they using embeds that require me to register with a third party?

Also, the list of Top 10 Albums of 2012 was based on a reader's poll. Since most of the website's readers are people who came of age during the 1980s, it makes sense that the Top 10 list would skew toward 80s acts that released new albums during the last 12 months as opposed to newer acts (e.g., Alabama Shakes).

Nice. I've heard of one group on the entire list.

I don't care what farkers think I enjoyed Making Mirrors and Some Nights

I'm really happy for you, imma let you finish but "Love Like Blood" was the best Killing Joke song of all time.

@ sephjnr
"I Picked up THIS after falling in love with the first two tracks as soon as I heard them in a shop: The Jim Jones Revue - The Savage Heart"

Go see them live! It's a gospel experience, they will make you believe in rock n'roll again, the real stuff: Little Richard, MC5, the Sonics, Dictators, Jerry Lee, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, etc. And get the previous records, too, especially the singles collection. Lo-fi and don't care. More piano, please. And what the hell, another guitar solo for good measure. Preach it, brother: "burnin' / your / house / DOWN!!"

/Jim Jones used to be the singer in an 80s UK Stooge-oid band called Thee Hypnotics. Even SubPop licensed their stuff for one record here in the States. They were damn good. But nothing like, and not as good as -this-.

That Bob Mould album is really good. Otherwise the list was a bit meh.

Looks like a "are they still around?" list, but no "best of the year" list is any good unless it has the new Gaslight Anthem on it.

2012-12-31 07:32:01 PM
Is this all Hipster or coffee-house crap or is it worth a listen?
