My mechanical pencil that took me from high school through college broke in my recent move. This thread is a reminder of that loss and now I has a sad.

You were my boy, Blue.

Spanky_McFarksalot: Pencils are still used in many tests that students have to take. You can't fill in the circle using a pen or the reader will explode or something.

subby is either clueless or ignorant as to the ways of the world and will insist I remove myself from his/her lawn.

I have to take lots of scantron tests and the ones I fill out with a mechanical pencil always seem to be read correctly. I use 0.7 lead; 0.5 breaks too often and 0.9 is a little wide for the tiny rectangles.

The only thing I really prefer a good old-fashioned No. 2 pencil for is for carpentry, and most of the pencils in my toolbox were sharpened by a utility knife.

Pencils are still on the yearly school supply list for every kid in K-12.  Subby must have went to one of those "special" schools where they don't allow sharp objects.

Thosw: Just Another OC Homeless Guy:
BTW, were you aware that the indigenous Indian culture in Guatemala simply never developed the concept of a queue? Found that out from an undocumented Guatemalan friend of mine, a pure Aguacateco Indian.

/So there's that...

I take that to mean that Guatemalans will never legally emigrate to the U.S. because they'll get the shiat kicked out of them by the immigrants who will.

/at least it explains the amassed crowds around the immigration office here

what ever

Fano: Gunny Walker: FTFA: For those annoying amusement park or movie theater lines, Farooq proposes a chain of connected, moving chairs. You take a load off, enjoy the built-in entertainment system, and before long, it's your turn to get up and enjoy the ride or show.

How lazy have Americans gotten? Or this an effect of the "Browning of America" that we are losing the British ability to queue?

Britain never succeeded in teaching any of their former subjects how to properly queue.

Perhaps they missed their cue...

Sybarite: I can't have an electric pencil sharpener. I'll just end up with nubs and shavings.

Won't that be painful?

1388-2/HB, I presume? Smoothest writer and eraser I know. Second is the Kimberly 525, but it takes the lead in current production since the Mexican Ticonderogas suck.
