littlett's: Crudbucket: littlett's: thecpt: Had friends on the swim team in school and none of them looked chesty. They all complained that their shoulders and arms would be muscular which made everything smaller looking. Their chest muscles would give everything the perky look, though.

Most girls with a swimmers build have really nice shoulder and back muscles and tend to have smaller looking chests.  Partly to blame since a lot of swimmers are very lean and have a very low percentage of body fat that typically results in small breasts.

I don't think they're considered actresses if its a documentary.

Some of those swimsuits squeeze the girls pretty flat, so she may have nice boobs.  I look really flat chested in a speedo one piece myself and I'm not that flat.

You weren't on the right swim teams then.

Being from Australia the stuff in our waters are probably like bunnies and kittens compared to what lurks in the Australian waters.

Angry Cubans on makeshift boats. See a woman who looks like that, and they might think their in south beach already and jump off early.

Do you think those are the same suits that real swimmers wear? Women's swim suits can be either designed to show off the body or designed to streamline the body for less drag. The latter kind flattens the boobs significantly.

You don't really think they were wearing normal speedo type swimsuits do you? I mean besides the fact that their "enhancements" would have helped, I'd be willing to bet those suits were designed to show off their assets. For instance, think of how often Pamela Anderson did the slow run with the bouncing boobies in that show. Normal speedo swimsuits would have kept even them from bouncing so freely.

So she's making an outrageous statement in the media, then pulling her own body through the ocean in order to lure her prey? That's the most meta trolling ever!

I was under the impression, which a quick GIS seems to confirm, that open-water swimmers tend to have substantially more body fat than pool swimmers, especially if they're swimming in colder water.

They usually have more body fat stored up so they have energy to burn during their swim, and it helps with buoyancy. IIRC people who swim the English Channel lose 18lbs of fat along the way.

2012-12-31 11:26:28 AM
I was on swim team in middle school and early high school and was reasonably competitive.  The reason most of the women you see swimming competitively on TV/in the news are small-breasted/flat-chested is because their physiques are more aquadynamic (for lack of a better word).  Those of us who are more generously endowed get weeded out by the time we hit 10th grade -- beyond a certain size point, boobs just create too much drag.

/That said, I wouldn't trade 'em for all the Olympic Gold Medals in the world.  ;-)

The subcutaneous fat also help endure the cold water.
