Hey Ennuipoet, stealing my links are you?  ;)

I posted this for TMLO in a TFD thread this morning - he loved it!

If you want to get technical about it you didn't use his full user name, so the calling out rule probably wouldn't apply.

Hahahaha, no worries, amigo, it's all good!

Exactly that, Ennuipoet!

Other headlines about Toshiro Mifune have been given the go-ahead with no problem.

thismomentinblackhistory: Shut up! Ban him!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I laughed HARD.

Just the right amount of silliness!

The Rashomon reference killed me, among other things.

AlwaysRightBoy: You are sooo banned!! Wait until TLMO reports this. You'll see.

I AM MERCIFUL AND SLOW TO REPORT

AlwaysRightBoy: /liked it, but my wife is yelling at me to turn it down.... cause I was dancing in the kitchen

How can you NOT dance to "Wild Wild West"?

I was hoping it would go green too.  I think it's one of the better parodies out there.

Hard to go wrong with the fail horns from The Price is Right.

I'm glad this got greenlit.

Am I the only one disappointed that it really wasn't a link to The Final Countdown?

Nope. But at least it was funny.

Time to test the "not actually calling out" theory with countless submissions! :-D

2013-01-01 11:48:26 AM
Why was I laughing? I should not have been laughing.

2013-01-01 12:13:25 PM
That wasn't funny.  Starting it off with a horrible song didn't help.

Dejah: That wasn't funny.  Starting it off with a horrible song didn't help.

Agreed.

2013-01-01 12:31:25 PM
why put in the Will Smith music which doesn't fit at all?

2013-01-01 01:28:52 PM
Meh.

I've seen better.

2013-01-01 03:10:44 PM

BiggityBanninated: why put in the Will Smith music which doesn't fit at all?

Got about 10 seconds in and couldnt take it any more.

2013-01-01 03:22:33 PM
I'm still laughing. This was BRILLIANT!

Your submission, TMLO?

2013-01-01 03:25:19 PM

Ennuipoet: Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener I swear I was only kind of calling you out in the headline!

So YOU are the one responsible for this absurdity?

Well done! It's now one of my YT favorites.

2013-01-01 03:45:53 PM
I have been amused.

2013-01-01 04:30:31 PM
If you folks have never seen Throne of Blood, you really need to. I think it is the best Shakespeare adaptation ever filmed.

Solid Muldoon: If you folks have never seen Throne of Blood, you really need to. I think it is the best Shakespeare adaptation ever filmed.

I thought that was  Throne of Blood... I've only seen a few of Toshiro Mifune's films, so I couldn't be sure.

2013-01-01 04:55:16 PM
Wait, I'm confused about the video.

So the cops knew that internal affairs were setting them up?

2013-01-01 05:35:16 PM
mentioning the guy riding his horse in circles and then the guy saying they were semi-circles. got me

2013-01-01 05:39:43 PM
Green is a pleasant surprise - kudos, Ennuipoet!

Solid Muldoon: If you folks have never seen Throne of Blood, you really need to. I think it is the best Shakespeare adaptation ever filmed.

It's really, really good.

Kurosawa's Ran is pretty damn solid, too.

Paris1127: I thought that was Throne of Blood... I've only seen a few of Toshiro Mifune's films, so I couldn't be sure.

Yup, Throne of Blood it is!

Apos: Your submission, TMLO?

Heh, I wish!

But since I feel compelled to add something to accompany subby's link, I'll throw this video out there, since it seems appropriate enough here. (pops, possibly not safe for all workplaces)

Buddha Belly: I have been amused.

:D

Good deal, then!

marius2: Why was I laughing? I should not have been laughing.

Mifune's grumpiness makes ANYTHING hilarious.

desertmouse: Am I the only one disappointed that it really wasn't a link to The Final Countdown?

Hah!

I didn't know what to expect from the link initially, so... maybe?

One thing I always love about comedy is a good callback. The circles thing was great!

No. That would have been better or maybe they should have used The Final Countdown as the background music.

Good film. The second Japanese interpretation of Macbeth I've ever seen. The first was a kabuki version performed by the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

/performed in English
//costumes were outrageous, pronunciations hilarious
///*high-pitched voice*"Macbeth will be Shoooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww-gun"

I'm not exactly well-versed in Kabuki theater, but THAT had to be boss.

I enjoyed it. The music was wrong, but the writing was fun. But then, I am a huge Mifune/Kurosawa fan. YMMV

Here's (part) of the script if you want to finance a production. And the Trib's review of the production I saw.

I made it about 15-20 then started skipping ahead. At the 1:00 mark one of the people in the video actually says "If you don't turn off this song I swear I'm going to murder you."

red5ish: I enjoyed it. The music was wrong, but the writing was fun. But then, I am a huge Mifune/Kurosawa fan. YMMV

Like Zombalupagus noted, the music at the beginning doesn't last for the WHOLE video.

And yeah, I loved the writing.

And double yeah, I've loved following the work of Mifune and Kurosawa for a long time. One of the best recurring collaborations in film, if not THE best.

DeltaPunch: Holy crap I laughed at the "LOL" part.

:D

Kome: How many of the views on that video do you think are a direct result of you linking to it in Fark threads all these years?

A million at the most, 750K at the least.

I'm hoping.

Good deal! Not subby, but glad you enjoyed it - cheers!
