I don't know whether to commend all those people for rushing into harm's way to save their fellow man or sit back and giggle while singing "Circle of Life" from The Lion King.

Did anyone else notice the guy in the background busting his ass? I almost spit sunflower seeds all over the place trying not to laugh.

Farking dumbasses.
Farking hilarious.
Glad no one died.

Even in these times, will millions upon millions of minutes and hours of footage uploaded to Youtube every day, and with a mouth breathing moron around every corner, even in these times it's rare to see so much staggering stupidity in one video. That was something special.

Also glad no one died, because this would have been less funny... Link (pops)
Not necessarily unfunny, just less funny.

Umm looks like the shore is 10 feet away in the bottom of the frame.....

Why not just swim away from all the people falling through the ice and walk up the bank.....

Very much this.

She was right to call those idiots dumbasses. They were obviously friends and family on the other side, walking out onto the weak ice to rescue the idiot who just walked out onto the weak ice and fell in. she told hubby/bf to get a rope and rescue them. They were only about 10 feet from the near side, but instead, they were trying to get back to the other side where their family was.

Geez.... if you cannot swim, do not walk on ice covered water, period.

If you are in California, do not EVER walk on ice covered water. It will not ever be strong enough to reliably hold you. Resist the urge, no matter how much of a novelty it is to you.

Here in Michigan we get morans who think ice fishing is best done in the spring (when the ice is breaking up), then get pissed off when they have to leave their new Silverado pickup on the ice to be rescued, get the bill for environmental cleanup.... AND find out their insurance won't cover a dime of their idiocy.

These people are in the mountains above LA, going to see the snow because what the hell is snow? So they have tubes but are otherwise completely ignorant about cold weather or snow and especially ignorant about frozen lakes.

As I awoke the day after Christmas to see the lake out back was iced over, my first thought was: "Well, wont be long until I have to do an ice rescue story." I always like when they are dragging their ice shanty out onto a lake they've never fished on, without bothering to ask the locals about the lake first. They inevitably pass over the top of the spring with their F-150 whilst towing the shanty..then two more trucks go in trying to pull it out.

LOL @ idiots going to the very edge of the ice, as if to haul someone out of a swimming pool.

2012-12-30 03:28:02 PM
I won't walk out on ice that's less than four inches thick.

\I used to race at Snow Summit in the Summers.
\\Also, just once, during the El nino year of 97 the snow up there was AMAZING.

To be fair, the first victim's name was Jesus, so he probably figured he could walk on water.

Uh could it be that most of them are from hot weather climates and don't have any knowleage of ice water safety. I do mean of course that they are originally from south of Texas.

When panic hits, instinct takes over. Like a horse running back into a burning barn. The barn is a place of safety, just like the area where the family is. Only, not always.

/awtul thing to happen
//glad nobody was hurt/killed
///still farking hilarious
