It's right there in the second paragraph, the first quote from the guy. 'Render unto Caesar'. If Jesus was explicitly OK with it, and it's in the Bible, then how can religious folk be against it?

Or really any country with no strong, central government. Like Afghanistan. Or Kansas. Actually, Afghanistan has a far more competent and less corrupt government than Kansas, so I would recommend Kansas in a heartbeat.

Meh, the TP dudes are weak newcomers by comparison, the sovereign citizen shiat has been going on for over a century, if I'm remembering right. Basically since there have been people born after 1800 to say "well, I didn't sign that constitution or agree to anything".

Though... calling it a 'movement' is maybe a bit of a misnomer since they don't like each other any more than they like the government for the most part.

Caesar is currently a black man. These groups wouldn't exist if there was a white man in the WHITE House.

Oh, yes they would. This one in particular is nothing new, it's been around for decades. Some people just really don't take well to authority of any kind.

Ah yes, Sovereign Citizens. What happens when you combine an insanely selfish person with a very limited understanding of political philosophy. They'd be more amusing if there wasn't the chance of them being so dangerous.

They seem like a perfectly reasonable group of people who are willing to compromise and do what's best for the country.

Back in my reporter days a guy here in PA got busted for driving with a cardboard license plate reading "Sovereign Christian Citizen #1" and tried to argue that the Constitution grants him free travel. The judge said "Yep, it sure does - you can walk wherever you want or drive that car in circles around your backyard all day. But, when you drive a car on a state road you need a license, registration and proof of insurance."

The guy then went on a huge rant about how the judge's flag had yellow fringe on it, making it a naval flag, and since said guy wasn't in the navy the judge's ruling had no power over him.

FTFA Frasier isn't sure what the Jolings want. (They did not return a phone call from The Daily Beast.)

"They wanted some kind of sweat equity deed or in lieu of that 27,000 ounces of pure silver," he said. "It was really hard for me to understand what they're asking."

I'm wondering if this is a sign of Schizophrenia. Word Salad and Delusions are both signs.

Which is a stupid argument as the flag is just there for decoration. It could be a freaking Gurren Lagann flag and not change anything. The judge should have had the Baliff take it out of the court.

Anarchism is generally defined as a political philosophy which holds the state to be undesirable, unnecessary, or harmful,[1][2][3] or, alternatively, as opposing authority or hierarchical organization in the conduct of human relations.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Proponents of anarchism, known as "anarchists", advocate stateless societies based on voluntary associations.

That's the thing about crazy people with a "mission". They're always looking for that one little thing that, when exposed, is supposed to bring the whole system crashing down. The officer didn't have his hat on, the flag had fringe on it, the comma in place of a period makes the birth certificate invalid.

Sad, really.

Here's an attempt to dispel the fringe "controversy". I always thought it was an indoors flag vs. outdoors flag issue, but apparently it's simply there for decoration.

Sovereign Citizens are the new teabaggers.

Teabaggers are the new mainstream republicans.

Mainstream republicans are the new democrats.

Democrats are the new liberals.

Liberals are demonized by all the above and are ignored or jailed.

On more than one occasion I have been blessed to catch a local cable access show about how to declare your sovereignty from the government (airing at 3 am, naturally) that looks like it was shot in some old white dude's basement circa 1995. It was a glorious trainwreck of derp.

A friend from high school, normal guy at the time, got into this stuff. He went to prison for tax evasion, think he's still there.
