How did that whole "drain the swamp" thing work again?

2012-12-30 09:28:41 AM
it didn't drain the swamp.
it only stood by and watched the swamp get murkier.

how is it that Rangel is still in office?

I imagine it went down something like this:

"Mr. Gordon Congress. The American business environment has fundamentally changed following the insider trading and savings and loan scandals. Explain business ethics, and how they are applied today."

Elected officials shouldn't have control over the funding of their own oversight, anyway. This might even be a good thing, since the office might be replaced by an army of Lt. Cmdr. Data drones that will seek and destroy violations in the most ethical way imaginable. The US loves drone strikes, and they love to talk about how ethical drone strikes are...

Considering our voting base reelected congressional members who openly tried to tank our constituonal rights and our economy... This doesn't surprise me. And we get what we deserve.

I don't care who you vote for as long as you don't keep doing the same thing expecting different results.....cause some would call that crazy..... you don;t own firearms...do you?

It's funny, Congress has such low approval ratings but yet a majority of them were reelected.

But anything to get at those godless libs amirght?

I don't.

I voted for reelecting Obama and McCaskill because the alternatives were much much worse.

I'm not expecting different results with Obama and McCaskill, I just realized how much worse we'd be off if we elected Romney and Akin instead.

If that makes me crazy, then I guess I'm crazy.

Exactly.

There are so many people who didn't know the issues or the candidates. Hell, in my area, there were a lot of Republicans that ran unopposed.

That office of congressional ethics sure did a bang-up job of noticing that John Murtha was dead and wouldn't be building any more of his defense-pork monuments to himself.

And by now they've come up with at least a dozen increasingly-contorted ways to say "does not rise to the level of criminality" with a straight face.

It is a sham. Insider trading is legal and access is sold to the highest bidder. This office does not even pass as a plausible veneer on the cess- turd that is congress

2012-12-30 01:14:53 PM
John Boehner passed out lobbyist checks on the house floor. He's now speaker of the house.

Is it any wonder the current crop of crooks is trying to get rid of the office of congressional ethics?
