More interesting: Blue moon tonight. The 13th full Moon of the year. But this full Moon has also been a bonus in the sense that we're getting several nights in a row of nearly full Moons.

fusillade762: And it'll be the first year in A HUNDRED YEARS to end in "13"!

Read somewhere that the 13 in Times Square has been heavily decorated with good luck charms, just in case.

Just saw this posted on Facebook today (for added numerological panic, if you need it):

Until we imposed a 7 day week on the Chinese on the 1800's, they had a 10 day week, and had no idea what Saturday was.

buserror: Shan: Jenna Tellya: Sword and Shield: Jenna Tellya: Similar/better question: The last time you could write the date as mm/dd/yyyy using 8 different digits was June 25, 1987. When is the next day that will happen?

4/5/2013.

Written as mm/dd/yyyy that's 04/05/2013, which has 3 zeros so doesn't work.

Doing this mentally so I might be wrong; however I came up with 04/15/2367. You can re-arrange the numbers a bit, however I couldn't come up with a date "sooner" than sometime in the 2300's,

Of the digit positions that aren't restricted, to optimize for "sooner", the lower digits should go to the more significant position, yielding 06/17/2345 (still in the 2300s, but sooner than 2367).

06/17/2345 is the next one that i figured out.

That answer appears to be provably correct. Both month and day require at least one digit in {0,1,2}. Since these must be unique, only one of the digits {0,1,2} can appear in the year. If we want that to be anytime soon, it needs to be the 2, and the soonest year that doesn't contain a 0 or 1 and doesn't repeat digits is 2345. Once you have the year, just fill in the remaining digits from lowest to highest, and you get your answer: 06/17/2345. Cool problem!

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: ... have numbers.

OH, CRAP, THAT'S NOT RIGHT, I BLEW IT

I just came in to say that Paul McNamara deserves a slap upside the head for confusing the words "numerals" and "numbers."  You are welcome to a free slap upside the head as well.

2013 is a single number with four numerals.

/"Digit" would also have been acceptable.

CluelessMoron: According to this python one-liner, there has indeed been a lack of them lately but there are plenty to come:

[i for i in range(1987, 2041) if len(set(str(i))) == 4]

[1987, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2031, 2034, 2035, 2036, 2037, 2038, 2039]

Shouldn't 2041 be on there as well?

I was going to say that, but that's also just a more elegant way of stating what TFA actually said.

You should check SNOPES before you believe anything like that (or at least think just a bit).

March 2014 will have those same days.

And for December, that combination will come by 2018.
