sxacho: CluelessMoron: According to this python one-liner, there has indeed been a lack of them lately but there are plenty to come:

[i for i in range(1987, 2041) if len(set(str(i))) == 4]

[1987, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2031, 2034, 2035, 2036, 2037, 2038, 2039]

Shouldn't 2041 be on there as well?

/can't read your gibberish

Naw, the "range" function doesn't include the final number. This actually makes sense in computer programming for the same reason that the "first" number is always "zero". If you ask python for range(10), it will give you a list of numbers from 0 to 9, which is ten numbers, but "10" isn't one of them.

Ow My Balls: Frankenstorm: I lost my virginity in 1987. So there's that.

I think I successfully masturbated for the first time that year. Not as impressive, but momentous nonetheless.

...successfully? Where their times before that where, perhaps, you adorned a white lab coat, and had a chalk board detailing several, as of that point, hypothetical methods to achieve successful masturbation?

If we're lucky, we might get a double rainbow next year, too. Now that would be something!

2013 is a single number with four numerals.

Doing this mentally so I might be wrong; however I came up with 04/15/2367. You can re-arrange the numbers a bit, however I couldn't come up with a date "sooner" than sometime in the 2300's, simply because we have 12 months, and 31 days, restricting us to two options for the first digit (0, 1) and four for the third digit (0,1,2,3), and under the further restriction of "closest to now", the fifth digit is locked (2), knocking our choices for the third digit to just 3 (0,1,3).

(0,1)(1-9) / (0,1,3)(0-9) / 2 (013 - 999)

....I think. Its late, didn't sleep well last night, and have a migraine; so all of it could be wrong. Even on a good day I sometimes have issues counting past potato.

How about you masturbate a little more, enjoy life, and stop being so pedantic? By "successfully" we meant "first time we reached an intentionally-caused orgasm."

Of the digit positions that aren't restricted, to optimize for "sooner", the lower digits should go to the more significant position, yielding 06/17/2345 (still in the 2300s, but sooner than 2367).

That answer appears to be provably correct. Both month and day require at least one digit in {0,1,2}. Since these must be unique, only one of the digits {0,1,2} can appear in the year. If we want that to be anytime soon, it needs to be the 2, and the soonest year that doesn't contain a 0 or 1 and doesn't repeat digits is 2345. Once you have the year, just fill in the remaining digits from lowest to highest, and you get your answer: 06/17/2345. Cool problem!

Mental logic .... day always contains 0,1 or 2 ... month always contains 0 or both 1 and 2. Year starts with 2 so cannot contain 0 or 1. Must be 17/06/2345.
