I can't say that I watched it regularly but it was a sitcom that wasn't The Big Bang Theory or 2/12 Men and it wasn't a reality show so it had that going for it. And Tina Fey is HOT.

Speaker2Animals: Parts of it could be funny. None of the story lines featuring Tracy Morgan were ever funny. Ever.

Even if that show was the most brilliantly written comedy ever, that guy would still have brought it down to Larry the Cable Guy level. I can't farking stand him, and he was the reason I avoided that show.

He's a pretty terrible actor, but they found a way to work with that and even give him some of the best lines on the show.
I think what I like most about 30 Rock is like Seinfeld, the jokes come first and caring about the characters and all that other crap comes after. I don't want every show to be like that, but it's nice to see some absurd humor once in a while on a major network.

Don't you just *hate* how you're forced to consume entertainment you dislike?

Personally, I blame Obama.

It's a blight and I'm glad it's going away. It's much the same as the fact that I don't have leprosy but if they ever find a cure, I will be glad.

Can you tell us what other popular things you hate? Could you maybe list them all, organized by media and with a 1 to 5 Frowny Face Rating?

No, I do not!

For YEARS I would catch my gf watching 30 rock and I would try my damnedest to get in to it (While Im playing games on the computer of course) and never found it remotely entertaining and spoke bad about it on more than 1 occasion.

Then I sat down bored one day and watched 2-3 and proceeded to shotgun Season 1-6 in about a week and a half. 30 and The League are the only 2 shows in recent memory that have made me laugh that much. The one liners are hysterical and I hope I see Scott Adsik in something funny soon. Hes great.

This is the way I was too. I heard good things about it and would watch a show or two and never really got into it over the years. Then I started from season one on Netflix last year and I was hooked. The show is packed subtle humor and running jokes. Brilliantly written while simultaneously being absurd.

Did I miss the drama of the headline???

The story was as boring as the show....

What did they lose? Their jobs is all I read about. Anyone working for a TV show should expect unemployment more than the Spanish Inquisition!

The show moves so fast and has so many throw away lines, it is a show that demands full attention to be appreciated.

My favorite episodes were:
-Liz Lemon meeting Oprah.
-Liz Lemon starting a fight club
-Every episode with Elaine Stritch (and her death episode was both touching and funny).

The show was so bad, you just had to watch it, read an article about it, and comment about it twice online. At least try and be a funny troll if you want attention.

FTFY.

30 Rock was a critical darling and had a niche audience, but it was never, ever, a hit. It was never in the top 10 for shows. Hell, it was never in the top 5 shows on the night it was on. It won awards and had support from high level execs, but it was never popular.

It receives accolades like it's far and away better than every other comedy out there, but I've never found it any funnier than Parks and Rec, Archer, Happy Endings, Children's Hospital, Don't Trust the B- in Apt. 23, Community, It's Always Sunny, Modern Family, or The League, to name a few. In fact, I stopped watching 30 Rock years ago and haven't missed it at all. Too many comedies to choose from that are just as good, or better.

I appreciated the running joke that the show-within-the-show was garbage. That alone put it over the Sorkin mess that had the same concept.

Oh and while the storylines aren't funny, the tiny jokes they fit into the dialogue usually make me lol.

It's the way it's written.  It's Always Sunny and Archer make me laugh more than 30 Rock, but 30 Rock is more intelligently constructed.

Bontesla: It was no Happy Endings. That show is so much better.

I wet myself during the lesbian Ellen dance.

of those I've seen, I find 30 Rock much more consistent* than pretty much all of those shows. I would put Community's first season ahead of 30 Rock, but the show's never been able to reach the same consistency for its past 2 seasons, even if it has some great episodes still. I like Parks and Rec, but it's always felt like the plot is completely secondary to the jokes. I think Children's Hospital is really good, though its meta episodes can be hit or miss. Even though I like the show, I've never understood the hype surrounding Modern Family. I find all the adult characters funny, but i generally dislike any plots involving the kids; they are generally comedy death and/or bad actors. I really don't get the "Don't Trust the B" fanbase; it's really not that good of a show.

* though last season was really hit or miss, but this season has been much better.

Glad to see that the general Farkogeist is that Happy Endings is currently the sharpest comedy on TV.

Well that's something of a lie. Look at the torrents to prove it. It's one of the few US comedies since Friends that is widely watched outside the US..

It was a show for retards who thought they were smart. It's for the people who thought Inception was an intellectual thriller, and According to Jim was funny.

The trade offs between will arnett and Baldwin were priceless. When Tracy yells at jack "YOU IDIOT!" And my favorite line from Jack, "its a guaranteed disaster, like eating a burrito before sex" are all some of my faves.

30R, Parks and the League make for a formittable Thursday night line up. Why do we need football on Thursday's again?

Hmm. I did think I was smart, but I found Inception to be extremely overrated. However, I've seen a few episodes of According to Jim, and I'm fairly certain I laughed at least once. It was a plot about going to a Bears' game or something, can't remember now.
