Missing from the list: United States of America v. Carollo, Goldberg and Grimm. Thank you, Matt Taibbi. And for the rest of the MSM that wasn't bright or intrepid enough to try and even understand the case (much less report on it) and its broader implications on how Wall Street has been screwing America, fark you.

A highlight from the article.

According to an analysis by Roll Call of Congressional financial disclosure forms, the net worth of the 535 members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives rose to $2.04 billion in 2012, up from $1.65 billion in 2008 - an increase that averages out to nearly three quarters of a million dollars per congress member. All this while the net worth of the average American household declined by more than 20 percent, according to data released in March by the Federal Reserve.

49% of Republicans say ACORN stole it.

There was nothing wrong with it in principle. We let stuff go through all the time, in order to figure out where it's ending up. This is a tactic that law enforcement has been using forever.

With weapons, though, there will always be some blowback. The only reason F&F got any attention was:
1.) A few Americans were killed.
2.) The ridiculous hollywood-inspired name.

Operation Wide Receiver used a few hundred firearms with GPS tracking capabilities and was done with the cooperation of the mexican military, police and ATF.

Fast and Furious involved a few thousand firearms and Mexico was left completely in the dark. It was done to bolster the false talking point that 90% of guns used in Mexican crime were legally purchased in the US

There is no equivalency.

I have heard most of these stories reported in the news, the one exception being the water shortage in Yemen. The writers at time need to poke their noses out of their office door once in a while.

Better yet, maybe they should report on the "under-reported" stories.

I don't unnerstand. Bookmark that javascript snippet? If so, how? If not, bookmark what? I run Chrome if it matters.

A bookmark is mainly an URL (well, and a description and whatnot) that your browser saves for you.
Those URLs can be, for example:
* weblinks (http://foo.com/bar)
* links to local files (file:///foo/bar.html)
* javascript functions (javascript:doSomeStuffWithTheCurrentPage() )

Those Javascript-bookmarks are also called "bookmarklet"s and they'll work on/with the site you're looking at when you click on them.

They're a poor man's browser extension (or a Greasemonkey script if that means anything to you) and most useful if you put them somewhere where you can access them quickly.
For example, my browser's bookmarks toolbar contains some bookmarklets I use almost daily and a folder for those I use less often.

That deslide one just takes the URL of the site you're currently looking at in your browser (tab) and opens a new window with that URL submitted to the deslider.

To create a bookmarklet, you just create a new bookmark and copy&paste the Javascript into the "Location" (or URL or whatever it's called in your browser) text field of the new/edit bookmark dialog.

In this case you could also right-click the "bookmarklet"-URL I highlighted in the deslider screenshot above; your browser should offer you something like "bookmark this link" when you do so.

There's another example of a bookmarklet with screenshots at the bottom of my Fark profile under "Enable images in threads with images disabled".

I have read them. The bat shiat crazy conspiracy theory part of this isn't that they sold these guns to track them it's that it was an Obama lead conspiracy to secretly promote gun control.

It's mostly run by locally-elected Democrats.

Yes, that includes the counties that had troubles in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Including designing and screwing up with the butterfly ballots.

Hell of a grudge you've got there, given the guy died over 40 years ago. Many worse people have come and gone since then

Haiti is still feeling his influences. Made their ability to withstand the earthquake that much worse. I'd still hold a grudge too.

hoopy22: 24. Alabama Farmers Look to Replace Migrants with Prisoners

Actually, on the surface, I don't think I'd have a problem with this. Pay them the same as the illegals make, a prisoner might have a tidy sum to get a fresh start after their gig is up. Win win??

/unless I'm missing something and in that case I'm totally against it.

Well, it does technically distort the labor market.

Florida took 4 whole days to report election results, well within the two month time limit to report election results to the federal government, and it was already known it didn't affect the outcome anyway. This was one of the top stories in the entire nation for the entire year? Wow, seriously slow year for news.

According to an independent state by state review of voting procedures, Florida is one of the better states, rated "generally good". Link

But yes, there are two particular counties in south Florida where the constituents of a particular demographic can't figure out a voting machine.

Could it be that you copy&pasted it from here, including the garbage ("%20", spaces) inserted by the Fark filter?

ThrobblefootSpectre: Florida took 4 whole days to report election results (...) This was one of the top stories in the entire nation for the entire year?

The point is that making people in certain areas wait hours and hours just to vote - including early absentee voting - is pretty de facto disenfranchisement. They mentioned the 4-day delay in counting the results to support the fact that most people ignored what happened in Florida altogether because it became irrelevant nationally... but their shenanigans should absolutely be alarming.

randy blythe, lead singer of lamb of god, was arrested in the czech republic for allegedly throwing a fan off the stage during a concert, and the fan later died from head injuries. i thought this was an underreported story for a couple of reasons. lamb of god is probably the most popular modern hard rock band in the united states right now. their last album reached 3 on the billboard chart. and their lead singer is in court, facing 5-10 years in jail on trumped up charges in another country, and i don't think the mainstream media reported on it at all. what if the lead singer of nickelback was in jail in another country? i'm pretty sure the media would have fallen over itself reporting on that, but because lamb of god is heavy metal, then that means they aren't important.

Just delete the part that is NOT in bold:

javascript:(function(){window.open('http://deslide.clusterfake.net/ de % 20s%20lide/g?o=html_table&u='+location.href);})()
That part is
a) the part which got messed up by the filter (it read "/deslide/g", the filter inserted the whitespace and %20)
b) also, by coincidence, no longer necessary

It's mostly run by locally-elected Democrats.

Yes, that includes the counties that had troubles in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Including designing and screwing up with the butterfly ballots.

1. How barriers to entry are artificially inflated by US law to protect big business.

Prime examples: Taxi cab medallions
If you drive people around without one you can go to prison, hippie. If you cut a $900,000 check to the government, the next day, you are a law abiding saint, welcome to the club.

Things like this happen in all sorts of businesses...another off the top of my head is the moonshiners. The law will try to put you in prison for making moonshine in your back yard. But if you go cut a check for $200,000 the next day you can make all the moonshine you want, they will even spend taxpayer dollars for you to have a grand opening.

The price of freedom.

I think it's funny (funny, but no in a ha ha way) where suddenly conservatives get all jimmy rustled over some trivial event, all at once. Except their 'facts' are mostly wrong, the outrage out of proportion to whatever. And there is nothing you can say to them, they just ignore you and repeat themselves. It's as if they have no immunity at all to being played.

Just so I get this right, you are saying that the first ambassador since 1979 getting murdered in an act of foriegn aggression on protected soil is no big deal. Fine. I accept that your level of devotion to the State goes that far. Let me ask, what would this administration have to do for you to say that they have failed in any way, shape or form?

BadAttitude4U: The bat shiat crazy conspiracy theory part of this isn't that they sold these guns to track them it's that it was an Obama lead conspiracy to secretly promote gun control.

Then why did he, hillary and Janet Napolitano peddle the idea that 90% of Gun crime in mexico is as a result of US firearms when FactCheck pretty much destroys that lie. If it was a piss-poor attempt at tracking weapons, then Holder should have come out and said so. The whole world knows that the ATF wanted a red-flag on anyone who purchased more than one rifle in one transaction...... thats actually in the inter-ATF emails which you claimed to have read.
