Toss in a baked potato, and there's nothing better with a big, thick rare steak than asparagus.

There are people who don't just drink their hangovers away?

2012-12-29 09:24:03 AM
I'd rather be hungover than eat asparagus.

So they lack social skills and might have had too many vaccines?

I've never been unimpressed by asparagus' social skills. What kind of crowd are you running with?

In other news, asparagus sales rise 100,000%.

Maybe we could ferment asparagus?

I love asparagus. I do not love what it does to my pee. Ick.

Asparagus tip for haters: do not overcook! It should remain crisp. Drop it in boiling water for one to two minutes depending on thickness. Overcooked asparagus is nasty.

Hungover people do, apparently, Mr Grumpypants.

Yeah, like I want to clean really smelly pee out of my closet after a night of heavy drinking.

The Institute of Food Technologists is reminding people of a 2009 study from the Institute of Medical Science and Jeju National University in South Korea, which found that eating asparagus may help cure unwanted hangovers, UPI.com reported.

How can the asparagus distinguish the unwanted hangovers from the ones that have been planned for, joyfully anticipated, and welcomed lovingly into the world?

But asparagus is out of season, so it's back to advil, coffee and breakfast burritos until spring.

/and pencil thin asparagus should be banned

I used to think I hated asparagus until I had it grilled. Actually quite tasty! But yeah, boiled asparagus tastes like monkey anus. ...or so I would imagine.

Has anyone ever actually wanted a hangover?

It works, put one in your morning after Bloody Mary.

A little oil, some bacon crumbs, and and bake in the oven for a bit.

The answer, as with most other food problems, is garlic. Lots of it.

Thick asparagus: nasty.

Thin asparagus: actually quite good!

1. Melt some butter in a pan
2. Toss in asparagus stalks and saute lightly until coated in butter
3. Add a tiny bit of water, no more than half a cup
4. Cover and steam on med low heat until stalks are bright green

Yummy!!

I love asparagus. Has anyone had the white kind? Is there much difference?

2012-12-29 02:15:17 PM
I love asparagus when it's not priced at $5 a pound.

Could be why I despise it. That was Mom's method. Still no interest in giving it a shot, though.

I roast it in oven at about 400-425 with some olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper until the tips are just starting to brown, around 10-12 minutes. Serve with hollandaise next to a big ol' mid-rare ribeye and a starch of your choosing. You can thank me later.

/broccoli roasted the same way is pretty damn good, as well.

That or tripe, which the rest of the f'in world has been eating for a hangover cure for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Cows; is there anything they can't do?

Tap dance. Not very well anyway.

Cut it, throw it on the steamer, plate it, and put a slice of butter on top. It's simple, tasty, and works as a side dish for lazy farks like me.

So just fire up the grill, and cook em after drizzling them in olive oil and sea salt

Asparagus is delicious. Especially when sautéed in bacon grease.

If you don't cook like a retard, asparagus is good shiat.

No difficulty for me. I love asparagus.

It's better to prevent getting a hangover to start with. When drinking alcohol, also drink lots of water, enough that you need to go to the restroom at least once every 45 minutes. You'll be less likely to have a hangover in the morning. If you piss yourself in your sleep, then you obviously were drinking way too much.

Drink better booze you wont get a hangover.
