fta Grass-roots leaders said this month that after losing any chance of repealing the national health care law, they would press states to "nullify" or ignore it. They also plan to focus on a two-decade-old United Nations resolution that they call a plot against property rights, and on "fraud" by local election boards that, some believe, let the Democrats steal the November vote.

A few of the things less important to the Tea Party than a 20 year old UN resolution:
- Jobs
- Stagnant wages
- Education
- Retirement security
- Social Security
- Medicare
- Infrastructure
- Energy
- Debt and Deficit
- Trade
- Nuclear proliferation

It's called Agenda 21, and it's a completely non-binding, voluntary resolution on sustainable development. But the teabaggers have turned it into "UN wants to take my land!" fascism, and Glenn Beck has had someone ghost write a novel about it where UN troops come and herd us into concentration camps.

This would be the same all-powerful U.N. they mocked for only sending "strongly-worded letters" to Saddam Hussein regarding his "massive WMD stockpiles" circa 2002?

2012-12-29 12:12:07 PM
So have they boiled it down to "we hate black people in power" yet? Because regardless of their claims to the contrary, that has seemed to be their primary focus since anyone bothered to pay any attention to them at all.

2012-12-29 12:12:42 PM
Here in Wisconsin the teabaggers have another couple years of making things worse, at least. I'm half-expecting them to start a war with Canada over water rights before they're tossed out.

/ not to mention making it harder to vote
//...and easier to pollute
///...and reducing access to womens' health care
////...and trying to jail people for implementing Obamacare
//...and messing with the court system to ensure that only teabagger judges hear the case when their stuff's appealed
// etc.

Remember they did the same crap with the non-binding resolution for the rights of handicapped people earlier this month that was championed by such bleeding-heart liberals like Bob Dole.

Because it somehow lets the UN take homeschooled children away or some stupid BS.

I wonder if it really does hurt to be THAT stupid.

But surveys of voters leaving the polls last month showed that support for the Tea Party had dropped precipitously from 2010, when a wave of recession-fueled anger over bailouts, federal spending and the health care overhaul won the Republicans a majority in the House.

So their appeal is becoming more... selective?

Hate group is too extreme.

I like to think of it as a group of people who lack any critical thinking and believe whatever they're told.

To be fair, most of the conservatives mocking the UN back then were neocons while the paranoid "UN is sending black helicopters to my farm!!!" crowd tend to be paleoconservatives (i.e, Ron Paul).

Then again, a significant number of conservatives do tend to be giant hypocrites who rather comfortably switch back and forth between being necons and paleocons every few years (depending on whether the president is a Republican or a Democrat, of course).

Mr. Cummings, who is the Midwest coordinator for Tea Party Patriots, a national group, said a major issue he would be focusing on now was Agenda 21

And this is why we point and laugh.

But, if ten years from now all my shiat hasn't been taken away and I'm not in a labor camp working for a socialist world dictator, I guess I'll have you patriots to thank.

The original Tea Party in Boston had a motto of "No taxation without representation."

We have a large population in Washington, D.C. that has no voting representation in the Senate or the House. Their population outnumbers that of several states.

I think the Tea Party should embrace its number 1 cause of pursuing voting representation in Congress for Washington, D.C.! Hundreds of thousands of full-blooded Americans are paying Federal taxes but have a diminished voice in our Federal government.

Come on Tea Party. Let's get serious about no taxation without representation.

Two points about the last photo:

1. Recommending Atlas Shrugged (poster in the background)? OK, back to the Loch with you, Nessie.

2. I wonder how that old twat would feel about getting rid of Medicare? I'm more than a bit offended that even a fraction of a cent of my income is being used to keep her alive.

2. Cut tea bagger income and benefits 10% across the board.
3. Watch the hilarity unfold.
